My daughter and I stayed at the Residenza Fiorentina for a week in June. It was perfect! The location was fabulous, the staff was very courteous and helpful, the room was clean, the breakfast was delicious.

Booked two rooms but allocated 'junior suite' with two connected rooms. Fine but one WC and one TV. To be fair, we were told we could move the next day if we didn't like it, but once you're unpacked and only there for 3 nights, too much effort. All staff were great, hotel is very handy for station and all... More

La Residenza is a former nunnery. As such, it has a lot of flavor. The rooms may seem a little spartan at first, but one has to remember what kind of people they used to house. Our third-floor room overlooked the courtyard and had a view of Il Duomo. The 24-hour staff is very friendly and helpful. One friendly concierge... More

Very helpful and efficient service. We loved the old building, which probably was built as a palace some hundreads of years ago. Basic, but light and clean room.Good breakfast, but be early to get the full selection (e.g. scrambled eggs and bacon tend to ran out). The complimentary afternoon tea/coffee with little snacks is a nice extra touch. The location... More

Excellent location in the historic city center. The room was huge (we took a quad room) and super clean. The kids had more than ample space to do their stuff in the room. The staff were very helpful. We know where to stay on our next trip to Florence!!

Great hotel in a great location for exploring Florence. From the outside it's a little tricky to find, as the hotel is actually up on the 2nd floor within a building. The outside of the building is not marked with the hotel name. Once inside, very pleasant and friendly multilingual staff, very nice comfortable clean rooms and bathrooms. Big beds,... More

An extremely clean and comfortable hotel in the centre of Florence. The beds were very comfy and the en suite bathroom was spotless and modern. A buffet breakfast was included which contained cereals, pastries and some hot food as well as the usual drinks. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. I simply cant find a negative thing to say!

The hotel is conveniently located very close to the main train station! Myself and my husband just walked down to this place and it was easily found. As you enter, you feel like entering an old tiny palace. The lifts were veryyyyy tiny but who cares. The hotel was located on the first floor (main reception). The breakfast was nice... More

What else do you need in Florence besides location and a clean room? Staying here we got excellent price, hotel was less than 10 min walking from the train station, large and clean rooms, quite good breakfast and walking distance to basically everything that we would like to do in the city. The area was safe too, which was a... More

The entrance was very difficult to find first time around and was around the corner from where the TripAdvisor map says it is. Once inside the hotel was clean, tidy and fairly modern. Our room was very spacious with loads of sunlight but the walls could do with a lick of paint. The reception staff were excellent, one guy in... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
