I have been to this little hotel few times and every time I go to Florence for holidays I book this hotel because it is so central and so close to many attractions. The lady who owns is nice and friendly. if you are looking for something not too pricey, this hotel can be your choice. The hotel is located... More

Best choice for a budget trip. Excelent location Friendly host. Small clean room with tv wifi and air conditioned. Lots of info materials at the info desk. Only downside is the lack of private toilet. Beside that you will feel like home in the middle of beautiful Firenze.

In an overpriced Florence, this is a good option if you're searching for something a bit cheaper with a good location in the centre, only a few minutes walking to the Duomo. The hotel is on the third floor of a building without an elevator so it's quite the climb, especially if it's very hot outside and you have heavy... More

Although up a long flight of stairs with no elevator, the climb is worth it. This charming hotel has clean, comfortable rooms, an extremely helpful owner and staff, and it is warm and welcoming. Some rooms have their own facilities, some share a shower or WC. There is rarely a wait for a shared one, and they are always clean.... More

The location is ideal. Right in the middle of the main train station and Santa Maria dei Fiore. Everything is walking distance. The place is quiet, nice and clean. Only thing I'd suggest is that they answer emails, since I sent emails before arriving and they were never anwered.

I went here for 2 nights with no expectations and was surprised and delighted with our accommodation. Based very centrally, just a hop around the corner to the Duomo, clean and good value this place was a great base to explore Florence. The owner was very welcoming and friendly, the room was clean and we were given fresh towels day... More

Via dei Banchi is a strategic location, in between of Mercato Central, Duomo, and Santa Maria Novella aside from the shopping streets! Room are clean although tiny for a single room. Just a little disappointed with the misleading information from their advertisement in Expedia, I purposedly canceled my earlier booking considering the fact that the room comes with a private... What a VILE hotel. We were put in the room just near reception, there was a window that looked in to reception with see through curtains! We could hear everything that went on. The decor was disgusting and the bed sheets were dirty, the shared bathroom didn't have a lock and the "shower" was a small hotel in the floor... More

It was a cheap single room, I must agree on that. This family run hotel could work on being more courteous and helpful to their guests. I needed to crash for a single night and managed to do so, as I am sure I may not have survived more than one night here. The hotel is on the main road,... More

Cons: There are so many STEPS. There is nothing you can do about it. You share a bathroom. The hotel is on the third floor. The hotel is owned by very sweet woman. We stayed here for 4 days. She was so kind to change our rooms when we accidently booked 1 queen bed instead of 2 seperated beds. Kudos... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
