Comfortable rooms, good breakfast, excellent and friendly staff. Great location - give that it is close to the train station. There's also a tram stop outside - that's good as there isn't any car/bus traffic and the windows cut out any noise from trams. There's also an excellent restaurant nearby (Il Portale).

We spent the weekend in Florence after arriving at the main railway station, less than a five minute walk away. We'd seen a review suggesting that rooms at the front of the hotel were noisier because of the trams so we asked for a room at the rear. Reception staff were very accommodating and helpful throughout our stay and the... More

The hotel was a great choice because it was close to the train station. Our family was coming from Rome and we were able to take our suitcases to the hotel without a taxi. The hotel was clean and nice. The breakfast was on the better side as well. The wifi was not the best wifi but it was enough.... More

The rooms are a nice big size. I like the toilet and bath room. I really enjoyed the heater as we are in the heart of winter right now. Location is excellent. It's near everything. Trams, train, shops and beautiful resturant. One thing i did not like was the pillows. They were very weak and also i think its time... More

We first stayed here about 2 years ago, and although our room was a bit dark, we enjoyed the hotel, and its proximity to the Duomo ( maybe 10 to 15 minutes walk). This hotel isn't flashy, but it is comfortable. We stayed again last week and when booking I upgraded to a "superior" room, which in hotel parlance probably... More

This hotel booking was from a Citrus holidays package and I was pleased it was conveniently located near the station for bus or train for transfers to/from Pisa airport. It was also within 10-15 minutes walking distance of any of the main attractions. The room was very stylish & comfortable. The staff were very polite & helpful and the breakfast... More

This hotel is well situated for the city centre, being just a five minute walk from the main railway station (which is also where the buses from Pisa airport set down). It's easy to find; just follow the tram tracks! The street it's on is very quiet - except for the noise of the trams that go past every few... More

Wonderful city, ideal for our 3 night stay. Flew in to Pisa Airport, easy bus journey to the central train station, it took 5 minutes. Train from Pisa to Florence takes approx. an hour. The Embassy hotel is but a 3 minute walk from the station in Florence and is conveniently situated a five minute walk from the city centre... More

We had a family room which was actually a 3 person room with another single bed squeezed in. The bathroom was nice but flooded when you had a shower. The front desk staff couldn't manage to crack a smile. The only friendly staff we encountered were the kitchen staff/waitresses, cleaners and the night porter. The breakfast was good. Room sparse.... Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
