Overlooking the river Arno, only a few yards from the Pontevechio, and in the heart of the city, the Hotel Bretagna is perfectly placed for a stay in the gorgeous city of Florence. Go through the door from the street and one gains an immediate sense of the 'Italian Experience'. This is no modern building that means you could be... More

I am reluctantly giving away my new find- the new section of the hotel bretagna next door. New spacious ( rare) rooms overlooking the Arno river. Yes it's away from the main reception of the hotel but worth it. Close to everything. Also agree the great front desk team for restaurant recommendations.

We stayed 3 nights in this hotel for a week long visit to Italy. The hotel location on the Arno river and proximity to shopping and all of the major museums was very convenient. We had a room on the 4th floor that was a bit too small but it met our needs nicely. No view but the lobby and... More

This hotel is in a perfect location. I stayed in a single room which was perfect for my needs. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was amazing with a wide variety of food offered. I would stay at Hotel Bretagne again.

You enter through a large foyer and head to the elevator to the 2nd floor reception area. Then we went to the 4th floor and our room through a buzzer activated hallway door. We didn't know there were any other guests until breakfast. Breakfast was very nice, a great selection and served in a very regal room. The staff was... More

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Bretagna June 4 through June 7. Hotel Bretagna was formerly a palace and sits on Lungarano Corsini facing the Arno River. We booked a double classic room which was small but had a nice bathroom with double shower heads and plenty of hot water. The hotel has a small balcony (and a larger... More

We stayed in a Junior Suite on the fourth floor with views over the town and river. When we arrived we immediately sensed that this was such a lovely place with tremendous people that we asked to extend our stay from 5 days to 8 and fortunately we were able to do that. The greatest drawcard to the Bretagna is... More

Amazing location (very close to city center), and very helpful reception. They try to make the rooms old-fashioned (Bretagna-style), and they do a good job at it. Things to consider: - The bathroom is separate from the bedroom - Wifi is very slow - When I was there (June) there were mosquitos. But overall a great hotel!

We had a night and a half in Florence between the Sardinia and Tuscany legs of our spring holiday, so we really just wanted a reasonable room central to the historic sights. The location was fantastic. Make sure that you head towards the Oltarno (south of the river) for something a little less crowded for drinks and dinners. We were... More
