We stayed at Il Bargello for 7 nights, and were delighted. An ideal location within walking distance from all the historical sites, but not noisy at night. Gabriella, Maggie and Celine were really friendly, helpful and gave us lots of good advice, booked us into the galleries, and a reservation at a restaurant with a view of the Ponte Vecchi.... more
We were warned about the stairs - and they are daunting - but apart from getting luggage up them (and Maggie did help us), you only really need to go up once a day! What we loved was the fact that you could just relax in the lounge, or on the terrace, make a cup of tea, eat home-made biscuits... more
At first hesitant about a B&B experience, I have no regret about the decision to stay at Il Bargello. Yes, it's on the third floor (fourth, by our North American counting), but I, a 54 year old woman, had no problem. Owner Gabriella was very welcoming and available, but was never "over-present"...we felt it was very private. However, when we... more
We felt so lucky to find this place - it was just what we needed. The place is so central and cosy inside with a lovely lounge, kitchen and roof terrace. Gabriella is a wonderful host and made us feel very at home. She also knew the best restaurants and had lots of advice. Can't wait to go back! more
We stayed at the Il Bargello for two nights. As others have already mentioned, it is very centrally located and the hostesses, Gabriella and Maggie, are very friendly and helpful. In the common area they have guide books available for your use and will make you a reservation at the Uffizi or Accademia at no charge. There was wireless internet... more
My partner and I have just returned from a lovely Easter weekend in Florence staying at the charming Il Bargello B&B. The B&B is clean, well run and in a perfect position to explore this wonderful city. Gabriella and Maggie are both excellent hostesses and they have a wealth of information about the city so don't bother with the tourist... more
We stayed at this lovely B&B for just a weekend. It is very centrally located. A 15 min drive from the airport and a 5-10 min walk to all the important sites in Florence. Our room was very spacious and clean. It had a private bathroom and a cute small terrace with a great view of the bright orange tile... more
Despite the hideous access, with all those steps, this is a truly excellent place to stay - location, facilities, service. It's got everything. My room was small (okay for one, probably a bit claustrophobic for two), but it's a medieval building into which several ensuite bathrooms have been squeezed. Because it's so central, it was good to be able to... more
My experience of il Bargello differs significantly to that of other reviewers, which leaves me to wonder how it rates highly. We stayed at this B & B for 3 long nights. Sure the location is good - but Florence is compact and everything that a tourist would want to see/experience is within a small area of the city. Room... more
