The hotel is very close to Firenze SMN train station. It was very convenient for us as we traveled to San Gimignano, Siena, Pisa and Lucca. Also the Duomo and other major attractions are at a walking distance from the hotel. The staff is very helpful and courteous. The room is bigger than typical European hotel rooms. All the basic... Rooms clean, spacious with working AC and good beds compared to other places in Europe. Good service, very friendly staff, they immediately showed us all places of interest on the map with a persistent smile. Breakfast very cheap including pastry, bread, cold cuts and so on. Will definitely be back!

Hotel Montreal is a nice hotel in the city centre of Florence. It is also near the train station allowing you to travel around Tuscany very easily. In addition, the rooms are very clean and the staff is really helpful and kind! If I ever visit again Florence I would gladly stay again in Montreal Hotel! Christina Greece

We were only stopping in Florence for one night, and we are so glad that we did! Neither of us had been to what is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cities in the world before, and the location of this hotel made exploring the city in the short time we had very doable. The room was lovely, soundproofing is... More

The place is easy to find, you dont have to drag your luggage far from the train. Bed was hard, pillows too. AC works great which was important! Room was spacious. Bathroom facilities adequate. We couldnt get TV to work, but we didnt go to Florence to watch TV. Wifi worked fairly good during our 4 day stay. They did... More

Had a pleasant stay at your hotel, mainly because your female hotel receptionists, especially the younger one, were very helpful and friendly. Their hospitality made guests, like myself, feel very welcomed. Your rooms are decent for the price we paid. We did complain to the front desk that the air-conditioning in our room was very warm and by the time... More

It was a while ago, but I do remember the facilities being decent. The rooms have a heated towel dryer, and the hotel provides a pass to a close by gym. I also remember the staff was a bit rude, I did not feel welcomed there by the receptionist. If on a budget I would stay again though, close to... More

We were here for a 2 night stay. After reading some reviews, I decided to go with this hotel, as location was very important. Just as reviews said, location is perfect! Just a few minutes walk from thentrain station and very centric to go everywhere else. Staff was super friendly and helpful at all time. Always smiling and willing to... More

We spent only 2 days in Florence and were looking for well located clean and inexpensive. If this fits your criteria also. this is the place for you. The staff Erica and Stefania were excellent. It is a 5 minute walk to the train station- tops. It was clean and quiet and very close to at least 6 good restaurants.... More

This is a good hotel very near the SMF station. It has everything going for it except that we found that our room were intruded upon for two days. On one day, there was a strong smell of cigarette as we entered the room in the evening after being out the whole day. It was surprising but we dismissed it... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
