Me and a friend came to Firenze to watch some football and had the pleasure of a stay at Le Ghiacciaie. Clean and comfortable rooms, great location, Good shower and facilities. Felipo was brilliant and so helpful. Top place to stay I would thoroughly recommend it. Thank you

Close to the Santa Maria Novella train station and a pleasant, 15 - 20 minute walk away from the historical center of Florence. Staff spoke English, was very friendly and accommodated all our needs. It's close to the railway tracks but the sound from the trains did not disturb our sleep. Our room was quite spacious, but there was no... More

We stayed during our trip to Italy in this B&B, and the experience was great. The B&B is held by Pietro, a very nice man who gave us plenty of information about the city, the buses, the restaurants... The location is perfect if you travel by train, in 5 minutes you are already there.

Just 5-10 minutes walk from train station. It should be residential area nearby, it means it's quite quiet but there are only very few shops or restaurants nearby. But with a walk of 15 minutes you can reach the city center already. The host are extremely nice and helpful. The room are quite big, looks very decent and clean. But... More

We loved our stay at Le Chiacciaie. All rooms and facilities are brand new and presented tastefully. The premises are kept super, super clean. Breakfast is substantial. The coffee is excellent! Don't be put off by the exterior upon arrival. Situated right next the railway line the area looks a bit rough. Also, although the location cannot be described as... More

We selected a B&B close to the train station for convenience as we were staying only two nights. It turned out to be right next to the railway lines in a not great looking area. However, we were delighted to find it tastefully modernised and very, very clean and tidy. The windows were very well insulated, keeping out train noises.... More

When you are in florence you usually look for something better located. This B&B it isn't close to the tourist attraction but it is still a great option. It works more like an apparment, the rooms are very clean and everything looks new. When you arrive you get the keys to enter the bulding and to the rooms, this because... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
