As you can tell by the comments, the staff can be out and out hostile, argumentative and unpleasant. The hotel is dirty and rundown and the photos on the internet do NOT portray the nature of the hotel. It is very much like a hostel, worn out linens, broken down beds. We walked in and frantically started to call around... More

The hotel is about 10 min walk from Firenze center and 15min walk from train station. The area close to hotel is quiet. Room was big and clean, comfortable bed, everyday cleaning service, good wi-fi and air-condition. The breakfast was little cheap an when the platters get empty they delay to fill them. Was enjoyable stay, friendly staff

And nice staff. Friendly and funny. Good view from the terrace restaurant. Did not try the rooms, only the food, but it was worth the trip. Small, but good selection ib the menu. As mentioned the staff was perhaps what was most imoressive, joking and helpful.

We booked this hotel as a last minute deal and were pleasantly suprised by the room and the proximity to the major sights in Florence. The three flights were a little taxing after a day of walking around the city, but the shower pressure made up for it- it was better than mine at home!- alongside the charm of the... More

Close to city center, but then again all hotels in Florence are close to the city center. Breakfast was limited. Be careful of the marble stairs, they are very slippery. There are only traction prevention stickers on the upper floors, be careful not the fall going down the last floor. Wifi is ok. A/C works greats. Some rooms big, some... More

We stayed here for four nights in late June. The hotel was very cute. We were happy that there was an elevator because our hotel in Rome did not have one and it was hard with suitcases. The room was very clean. The beds were comfortable. The A/C unit was adjustable so you could adjust the angle / speed of... More

This was absolutely the worst place to stay ever. 1. Upon arrival there were about 30 Mosquitos in our room 2. Toilet water kept running all day and night and was very irritating 3. There were holes in the walls and the entire place was completely run down and looked like a hostel 4. Photos on Internet are NOT accurate... More

Thank you for your comment. We are sorry you have disliked our hotel. We are even more sorry your are offending us and judging us and hoping to loose our business and therefore our job. The room itself is what we expected. The breakfast was good. The main problem with this hotel is the A/C. We stayed there for 3 nights in early June, and it would go up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit everyday. The A/C barely blew any cold air. Upon noticing this, I went to complain and Tony came to the room and... More

Located close to historic center of Florence, I have stayed here many times. Good bargain for such an excellent location, friendly staff, good breakfast, fantastic view of Florence from upper floor/breakfast area. Wifi is often iffy (depending on floor/location in hotel), mosquitos can be an issue in Florence but ask the staff for anti-mosquito plug-in device for your room. AC... More

Thank you for your nice comment! Ok, you won, next time you'll be here you found the A/C can be st up to 20°C... I 've gave up (but still the European rules are on the minimum temperature at 24°C). Looking forward to see you again! Cristina More

We stayed at this hotel for one night. I wish i could've stayed longer. It was quaint and quiet. The place was clean and the service was excellent. I booked it thru Expedia and the reservation included free wifi and a breakfast buffet. It was a feast! The food was fresh and we were provided with a variety of options... More

Thank you for your nice comment!! I agree with you: although I 've never been in the USA, I can notice almost my American guests are expecting more room, not only in their bedroom or bathroom, but even for the elevator. As you told, in Italy we are not used to have so spacious rooms, but in new buildings, not... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
