Residenza Il Maggio is a wonderful choice for a stay in Florence. We stayed there for 2 nights. The location is perfect, in a very quiet and safe neighbourhood, close to the US Embassy, near to all the main attractions. The owners, Mr. Roberto and his wife, were very kind, and helped with all our questions. We were given "the... more

Il Maggio was a great place to be in, coupled with a great host- Roberto, we had a blast in Florence. Despite the fact that we were late, Roberto waited patiently for us. During our short stay, he gave advice on where to go, what to do, and when we finally had to drive off to our next destination, he... more

This is a wonderful B&B. We had room 3 which is apparently the best room, it was huge as was the ensuite, we had our own balcony. I understand some rooms may have no windows though. It was spotless and they even made our bed for us, which we didn't expect. Breakfast was wonderful, toast, pastries, yoghurt, juice, coffee, tea,... more

I came to Florence as part of a group of college students traveling together for a class. As I am quite a bit older than the rest of the students, I was having difficulty keeping up. I had the good fortune of being assigned a room at Il Maggio's, just the comfort I needed after a long day of sight-seeing... more

We stayed in a mixed bag of hotels and B&Bs in Italy and I must say the Residenza Il Maggio beat them all hands down. It was clean, simple yet elegantly furnished and Roberto and his wife were absolutely wonderful with help getting around Florence. I will definitely want to go back to Florence, and to go back to this... more

We booked this place through Venere for one night, quite a lovely place and the room fairly comfortable. Ours didn't have a window however but it was still a nice stay. I would say it's only a 10 minute walk to the train station and very close to the Duomo and Uffizi. The manager was very friendly and helpful, we... more

Spent two nights with a friend at Il Maggio in mid April. It is located in the same block as the US Consular Office, so the street is blocked off for security in two spots, making it very quiet and feeling quite safe (military officers 24/7 with machine guns will do that). It is a half block from the Arno... more

We recently stayed at the Residenza Il Maggio on a trip from Rome to the Dolomites. We arrived at the train station in Florence and had a short 10 min flat walk to the hotel which was easy to find. We were welcomed by Roberto, the hotels manager, who had stayed on past his usual 12pm knock off time to... more

Gorgeous B&B with 5 or 6 rooms. We had the 2 standard rooms - the difference between standard and superior appears to be size, and superior have large shuttered windows looking onto street, whereas the standard have windows over door that open onto internal light well only - but this isn't a problem, unless you like to spend a lot... more
