I cant help but chuckle at the negative comments about this hotel. My wife and I are middle aged more to the aged side than the middle. We recently spent 4 days in Paris, 4 days in Naples and 3 weeks in Rome. We both retired this year and this was our breaking loose trip. Sorry back to the Hotel... More

Yes a lot of the reviews say the location is great and I do agree with that as that was the main reason why I booked to stay here but Florence is so easy to walk around and all the sighs are so close together it isn't enough to make me write a good review. Just don't stay here. Yes... More

I am easily satisfied with hotels since I don't really stay with them. This may be good as a dingy backpackers hostel but not for older people. My mom has trouble going up stairs. I specifically requested a disabled access room. But they gave us rooms on the 5th floor with nobody to help us with luggage!

Perfect location for Florence, short walk to both train station and city center. Rooms are fine, with private bathroom, air conditioning was not great. Staff were helpful and friendly. If trying to keep it cheap it is as good as you will get for that price, better than a hostel.

Booked last minute. We are currently staying at the hotel.the room is very noisy, air conditioning sucks, shower floded the room twice.we reported to the reception but they weren't very helpful.we are supposed to stay tomorrow but we are considering booking somewhere else. Do not bother.location is good but transports in Florence are ok so choose a better hotel

This is a budget hotel, and we stayed there because it is very close to train station and all the points of interest. However, there are 5 flights of steep and narrow steps to get to your room, so it is a struggle if you have luggage. The room was quite large and faced the courtyard, so it was quiet... More

Got charged my stay again on arrival at reception after I had already prepaid, but no harm done. It was the guy's first week and I should have probably protested more. The hotel was quick to resolve the issue and will refund the money. Issue was my fault as much as theirs, so nothing to cry over. Otherwise a pleasant... More

I can't give the Deco five stars as it's not that kind of place, but I really found nothing wrong with it. I've stayed in some real holes in Florence, so, given the low price at the Deco, I was expecting something to be very wrong. Instead, my single room facing a courtyard was fine, quiet at night and with... More

Everything was perfect. What I was looking for was a cheap, clean, central hotel (since both me and my girlfriend are students we were on a tight budget) and this was exactly that. Plus the staff was extremely nice and helpful. If you are looking for just a place to sleep this is the place. Everything was perfectly clean and... More

This hotel was a last minute decision, and one of the worst. To start... NO ELEVATORS!? Carrying a 50lb suitcase and a 15lb backback up all those stairs was brutal. It's 2013 and the only way to get wife in the hotel is in the reception desk area, which as an american in italy was very inconvenient. The bathroom flooded... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
