The staff was very friendly. We got a set of 3 keys when checking in at the reception which closes at 20h00. So we were kinda independent, which is fun. In case of an issue we could contact the staff easily by phone or whatsapp. The location is great since it's near the station and most tourist attractions within walking... More

Location is good. Really close to the central station, and given the city size, near the center. No breakfast (so it's not a B&B, it's just a B) Reception from 8 to 20 Wifi is working fine in our room TV and fridge in room. AC and heating system. No atmosphere. Once this said, entrance is disappointing/depressive, not warm. It's... More

Pros 1. Good location. Approx 350m from SMN train station. One has to be very careful as it is very easy to miss out on the hotel as there is no board for the same. Hotel Arcadia is also in the same compound. You can search for the same 2. Spacious and clean rooms: Unlike other hotels in Italy, this... More

Located close to the Main railway station of Florence (Firenze S.M.N.) about 10 min walk. Though the hotel does not have a big signboard outside which makes it very hard to find. Apart from the initial problem with finding the hotel and the reception, everything else was fine. The guy at the reception greeted us and explained about the hotel... More

For convenience this is a great spot to stay in Florence. We were greeted by a very enthusiastic reception staff member who was willing to step us through exactly what we should see during our stay. The wifi was also good and rooms were cleaned each day. However, the walls are quite thin so you could always hear the people... More

The pictures in the website/booking look way better than the actual place. The wifi connection does not work depending on where you're staying. It's close to the station and that's the only positive thing. I'd call it "weak". Not worth a second visit.

In town, museums and a great location with proximity to the station. 3 minutes into the river, 1 minute walk from the station, the price is fine performansiyla place. cleanliness and safety is the pain that you have a doubt. We pass on the outside after the big iron gates, you enter the apartment, then more and indicate a door,... More

I stayed here for 3 night with a friend in October 2014. The good: very conveniently located- we could walk there in 5min from the train station with big suitcases (no need for buses/taxis) and relatively easy to find. The room was a good size, and clean with the room cleaned daily. Wifi worked well. Staff were friendly and helpful.... More

It got off to a bad start when we couldn't find the B&B on the street, we retraced our steps to see to our horror we had booked a B&B run out of an old office block-no wonder we missed it the first time! The entrance is very dated and the rooms were not much better. The rooms were large... More

This is a quaint, old-fashioned hotel that combines the old with the new. The old is comprised by the rooms, which are charming and roomy. We had a balcony which a had a nice view in one direction and a not-so-nice view of the courtyard which could use a good cleaning and some plants. However, it was most amenable to... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
