Antica Posta is a great value for the money! My boyfriend and I stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed everything so much! The room and shower were spacious, breakfast was a nice assortment of things, and the staff are wonderful and helpful!

We arrived early in the morning and booked Antica Posta from the train station and arrived 30 minutes later. We were pleasantly greeted and although she didn't have our room ready yet, as we had literally just booked, she was incredible helpful and kind. She let us leave our bags there, let us use the shower, gave us maps and... More

The lady who works as receptionist is very nice and provided us with free breakfast though it was not included in room cost. She was also very polite to suggest us what to visit in Florence. Moreover the last day when we were leaving we forgot some of our personal belongings in the room and when we returned to pick... More

We stayed here for a couple of nights over the summer and it was really great! The staff is super accommodating and really allowed us to schedule our trip exactly the way we wanted to in terms of times of breakfast (which is served on adorable trays directly to your room!) and check out and leaving our bags at the... My perfect rating of this B & B is based partly on my experiences with the two ladies who manage the property. I arrived in Florence alone for a very short, two-day visit. And I arrived very sick...with the flu...so I ended up staying in my room the entire time I was in Florence. I'm a solo traveler, and this... More

10 minutes from main railway station, 15 min to accademia, 25 to vecchio, uffizi. Also a lot of busses you can take, but we preferred to walk. Only 5 rooms in this place, easy to find the hotel. Basic rooms with good bed, enough spaces for luggage and a litte table. In room breakfast, all pre packed. Bath room small... More

Antica Posta is located about 5 blocks from Santa Maria Novella Train Station. quite a walk from major sights but enjoyable nonetheless. The room was very cozy with basic amenities, no in-room safe though. Bed was comfy but I do agree the pillows are a little soft. The windows opened to a courtyard but the room we had lacked privacy. This B&B was our first stop on our honeymoon. The setting was a little unusual - it was part of a floor in a brownstone - it was just what we wanted and needed. We spent our days walking around Florence and taking day trips to places like Pisa and Sienna. We spent our evenings eating fabulous meals and gelato.... More

Unfortunately I didn't get the opportunity to stay here as we were told on arrival that my booking companies email had not been received. Even though I had sent an email to confirm our time of arrival (apparently my name was similar to the other booking they had which is why they didn't notice the error) and had paid a... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
