Still reading? Okay. The hotel has a fantastic location but that's it. No refrigerator. No wifi. No air conditioning. We stayed for 3 nights and never received fresh towels. 1 am curfew. It is super bare bones. I would not recommend this hotel.

Unforgettable stay in this pensione in the heart of Florence! Best value for money compared to other much more expensive spots! Located next to the duomo; if you want information don't hesitate to ask; someone is always there to answer and help you; not one of those places where the hotel is completely uattended to and where you have to... We stayed here for three nights and it was great! The hotel is in the centre of the town and only a short walk from the train station. There is great security, two doors you buzz to get in and the owner keeps your keys as you go out. There are some stairs to get into the hotel, however i... More

I had some initial concerns about this place and almost canceled my nonrefundable reservation after reading the reviews about the creepy owner. Yes, it's true there are cameras everywhere, you can't take your keys with you when you leave (requiring an exchange EVERY time you come or go), and you have to be home by 1 a.m. However, the owner... We had a tiny room with very basic furnishings and a sink (the bathroom was shared), but clean and quiet. The lady manager provided excellent hospitality. We truly enjoyed visiting this magnificent city.

This is a small family owned place with only 6 rooms. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. The only downsides was there is no wifi and no breakfast. Other than that it was a great stay!

Hotel Canada was one of the best and cutest places I've stayed in. It was so close to everything--sites to see in either direction and only a block from the Duomo. I felt as though I had been adopted by the woman who runs the hotel, as she opened the door and said, "Welcome Home" whenever we arrived. The two... More

This hotel was very close to the main part of Florence, which meant that the street was quite noisy. Living in a big (noisy) city ourselves, we weren't bothered too much, but if you're used to quiet sleeping conditions, you might be in for a surprise. It was really convenient in regard to getting around though. The bathroom for some... More

Hotel Canada is a great little pension located just a block from the Duomo. Spotless rooms, wonderful staff, great location, very reasonable prices....need I say more? The only downsides are that you need to climb two long flights of steps (no elevator) and they don't accept credit cards. Be sure to book through one of these booking sites.....Hotel Canada staff... Location: When we picked this hotel it seemed a great option because of the placement. And it really is: it has a 2 minute walking to the Duomo, and another 2 minute walking to St. Lorenzo's library. Even considering that nothing in Florence is too far away, it was excellent because we only walked with our suitcases from the train... More

Staying in San Lorenzo

Neighborhood Profile
San Lorenzo
San Lorenzo’s lively merchants shout out from behind stalls with an array of products in one of the most traditional neighborhoods in Florence. Different ethnic groups join together in the large outdoor market of San Lorenzo and in the Central Market, a vast multi-floored building. Visitors are bound to fall in love with this area and in particular, with its variety of food, especially those focusing on Florentine dishes as well as international selections. Nobody leaves San Lorenzo without a shopping bag in hand or with an empty stomach.
