It faces the river Arno, but on the other side (Oltrarno). It's far enough from the main touristy bits so you're not overwhelmed by the crowds but close enough that a 15min stroll will drop you right in front of the Uffizi. Our room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Ditto for the toilet/bathroom. Our room faced the public car park... More

We selected this hotel purely on the basis of location, it was a building away from my daughters student apartment. However, it turned out to be the most comfortable stay. Nice room facing the Arno river, comfortable bed, brand new bathroom with really fantastic hot shower, fridge in the room and really everything was great. Breakfast was adequate, some meat,... More

We stayed at the Relais il Cestello in Florence in December 2014. This small, friendly and well-run hotel in the Oltrarno provided us with an interestingly new view of the city - our previous experience had always been of staying north of the Arno in the midst of the major tourist districts. The first thing we noted was the ease... More

Small hotel which entirely fulfilled my expectations. I was given the room (22) just off the breakfast room and found it delightful in every way. Remodeled and squeaky clean bathroom, real wood window that opens for fresh air, gorgeous view, adequate breakfast, good coffee, nice staff, antique furnishings, comfy bed. I read the bad reviews and found literally NONE of the issues... More

I visited Florence in August 2014, and stayed in Relais in Cestello with my family. The front desk and reception were very friendly, and accommodated us even though we had to cancel some nights and didn't charge us. The breakfast was small and elegant, having 4 choices of cereal, a type of pastry, croissants, jam, nutella, yogurt, and coffee. The... More

It wasn't the highest standard hotel but it was far from the most expensive too. We found it very serviceable, only minutes walk from Ponte Vecchio bridge and on to the sights of Florence, whilst clean and comfortable. The staff assisted us in arranging secure parking for the car and were friendly and helpful during our stay. Breakfast was on... More

I read the reviews and looked at the hotel's website before booking this hotel. Everything looked good so we booked 3 nights here in September. Upon arrival we found our room (up on second floor with no elevator) was not like the website photo's showed. The shower had mould growing in it, and leaked onto floor, Bed needed replacing, (very... This small hotel is clean, with good sized rooms, good beds and friendly and very helpful staff. It is in what was, for us, an excellent location, overlooking the river Arno, and a shortish walk across the river to the SMN railway station, and to the Ponte Vecchio and all the central tourist sites. But do not rush across the... More

Relais Il Cestello is a comfortable little hotel that's a bit outside the heart of Florence. If you're looking to hit the major tourist attractions in Florence it may not be the most convenient location for you. We had already done that earlier on our trip, so we were happy to get a little distance between us and the main... More

A quaint guest house rather than B&B. Breakfast is a selection of pastries, cakes and bread etc that is constantly left out so you make a cuppa all day and night if you so wish. This aspect was very good, although a little more fresh breakfast choice may have been better. However, for a few days, it's an ideal place... More
