The hotel is very close to the train station which is great considering you don't want to drag you luggage through Florence. The elevator was very small, but like many other ones I've seen in Italy. Our room was adequate and actually pretty cute and the staff were very nice and helpful. The only problems that I had with the... more

Location is good (walking distance to train station). Any site in Fiorenze is easily walkable from this hotel. Rooms are utterly adequate, but with tiny showers. Street outside can be noisy. There is a laptop in the room and Internet access is cheap (6 euros a day) BUT they require that the Internet fee be paid in cash separate from... more

We were pleased to arrive to find the hotel so close to the train station which made us closeby to the main sites in Florence and it was easy for daytrips out of Florence. The reception and room itself was slightly disappointing. It was traditional decor but the bathroom was fairly run down with leaking taps and toliet. Having seen... more

I came by chance bec. the other hotel I booked was oversold, to my surprise I had a lovely room (see fotos) . Breakfast was ample, the same as you could expect anywhere else. Croissants, breads, cakes with jams. Meat slices and cheeses. Orange and multivitamin juice, coffee, tea. Prepackaged croissants as well. I was at the end of the... more

Our room was fine although a bit noisy overlooking a service area where someone seemed to be throwing bottles into a recycling bin every night very late. Troubled by mossies. Breakfast was very poor, we have no expectation greater than a decent coffee and a pastry of some sort, given this is Italy the coffee was dreadful and dispensed from... more

We stayed at this hotel in September for 5 days and it was the perfect place to stay to experience Florence! The decor was uniquely artistic. The staff was exceptionally pleasant and the location was perfect especially if you are arriving by train with lots of luggage. Our room was a double room with 12 foot ceilings, a desk with... more

My husabnd and I stayed at this hotel fro 3 nights in June. It was ok, but nothing to brag about. First of all, don't stay here if you have a car! Book somewhere with parking. The location would have been great if we were coming by train though. But, there is no parking, the staff did not understand/speak enough... more

Our family of four stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in early June 2007 (booked direct with hotel). We were quite satisfied with our stay. The room was large, the beds were comfortable, and it was clean. Sheets, & towels provided. The A/C worked well. The breakfast room is very charming with a pretty view outside, and the buffet... more

My daughter and I just returned from two weeks in Italy. After staying in three and four star hotels, which are nice but devoid of personality, we were completely chamed by the Hotel Desiree in Florence. The room was large, homey, spotless and included a balcony. Yes, you could hear the slight clatter of breakfast being prepared down the hall... more

The hotel was reasonably priced, very clean and the room spacious and initially impressive. However, the rooms at the front of the hotel on the busy street are incredibly noisy even with ear plugs. The noise of buses, very heavy goods vehicles and dustcarts truly is intolerable. They run throughout the night as the front of the hotel faces the... more
