The staff are friendly and very helpful, the rooms are huge, the beds nice and firm and the massive bathroom was a pleasure, all for a very reasonable rate. The hotel is a 15 minute walk to most of the major attractions and about 25 minutes from the river. We enjoyed our stay in Florence, with the hotel being a... More

An excellent place to stay. The staff was helpful and friendly, it's in a decent location near many places one would want to visit. The room was great, place is well kept. We enjoyed the bar area nightly. Would go back in a heartbeat! Great breakfast!

Nice place to stay. Accommodations were wonderful, great staff, great breakfast. Friendly, parking the rental was a little tough at times. They do provide parking for a fee and it's about 1 1/2 blocks from Hotel.

San Gallo Palace is a great hotel near Piazza della Liberta', about 15-20 minute walk from the main town. The piazza is a key spot on many bus routes - including the City Sightseeing routes making it convenient to get around. The hotel itself is well kept and the rooms are perfectly formed. The bathrooms are large and of a... More

The hotel has very good location near by the old city center. The staff is very helpful. The hotel is clean and nice. Offered parking is 5 min walking distance from the hotel, but is OK. It worth to stay there during your Florence holiday :-).

We stayed here for three nights and loved our stay. The staff spoke excellent English and were helpful when we asked for suggestions. The room was very clean and was beautiful. The bathrooms are much bigger than a typical European bathroom. Breakfast was great. It's about a 15 to 20 minute walk to the main shopping/ leather markets/main square. Overall... More

We stayed one night at the San Gallo Palace hotel and admittedly expectations were high seeing as they had a high satisfaction score on Hotels.com. We were in a standard double room. The bed was good enough, and the bathroom was clean/nice with a good selection of toiletries. The complementary Internet (wifi) however was horrendous and kept logging us out.... More

Thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at the San Gallo Palace. Great service, beautiful rooms. Only problem we encountered throughout our stay was the inconsistency of the wifi! Not great when are you are planning activities for your holiday as you go along so dependant on wifi. Nevertheless, great!

This hotel is stunningly beautiful as soon as you enter. All of the hotel is very pretty. The rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean. This hotel is located in a busy and confusing roundabout, but is close to the city center and good restaurants. The staff was also very friendly to us.

Loved our stay at San Gallo Palace! Right when we walked into the lobby, we were warmly greeted by the staff. Our room was a great size for two people, clean, and no street noise. Only bad thing was the quality of the pillows, but the staff immediately brought new pillows at our request. The staff at the hotel bar... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
