We only stayed here for one night. Lobby is on the third floor (there is a small elevator). The hotel staff was very nice, which is the saving grace in this review. I really liked the lady who worked late mornings into the evening. The room... well, it's a room. There was no TV in our room and the bathroom... More

i stayed here a few years back. I skipped the breakfast so cannot comment but the room has lovely and clean, I had one of the roof rooms with a balcony and couldn't resist heading back every evening for a few drinks up there with my book before heading out for the evening. was very nicely positioned too, about 10mins... Upon arrival, we were informed that they "overbooked" the hotel and told us that we need to call expedia to find another hotel. In the US, that's not a problem, in Europe with roaming charges, it's a problem. They didn't try to accomodate us at all, they didn't really care at all to be honest. A phone call ahead of... More

This hotel is absolutely a good value as it is close to the historical centre. Simply walking along Via Cavour you can reach the Duomo, the Uffizi Gallery and then Ponte Vecchio. So literally everything is within reach. It takes around 15-20 minutes to walk here from Firenze SMN Station or you can just take a bus and you will... More

The hotel located very close to the city center at Via Cavour a straight walk will take you to the Duomo and from there on you can walk to the Piazzas to the river front and if you cross the river do not miss the Piazza Michelangelo from where the sight of the sun setting will be a picturesque view.... We had 3 rooms for our group. All were basic but comfortable.Ours faced the road but noise was negligible. The bathroom was adequate although small but I've had much smaller. The shower was more like a hose but that was peculiar to our room as It is within easy walk (10 mins) of the city centre, Staff were very friendly... More

Nothing special, quite old and with different wi fi signal depending on your room position. But, if you are looking for a cheap place to sleep at, this is a good choice for you. The lady on the reception is really nice, while the man isn't. Good position, 10 minutes from city centre.

First of all I have to say that the room was very nice. It was larger than I expected it to be, and the bathroom was double the size of our hotel in Rome. So far so good. In addition, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was reasonable. However, Florence in June is hot. The room felt uncomfortably stuffy,... More

This hotel is centrally located close enough to make walking the city a breeze. The room was a generous size for european hotels, and included beautiful large windows that you could open and enjoy the breeze and a bit of people watching. To save space in the bathroom, the toilet was located inside the shower, but this wasn't a huge... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
