The location of the hotel is excellent! Only 2-3 min from Santa Maria Novella Train Station and only 2-3 min from Duomo! The hotel is in the historic centre of Florence and you can do everything on foot at a max of 15 min. The staff was very polite an helpful. The rooms were big and very clean. The breakfast... More

The main advantage of this hotel is its location. We walked all over Florence, but were never far away. Also the staff is very helpful and suggested an excellent restaurant nearby for dinner.. Along with the location, there is some noise at night which might bother some people. Also it is necessary to carry your bags one flight of stairs.

A little gem of a hotel with the most helpful staff. The hotel seems to be a converted private home. The rooms are small by US standards, and the shower is VERY tight, but there was plenty of hot water and water pressure. The entire hotel is very clean and well kept. When travelling, we prefer to stay in a... More

Would I recommend? Yes and no. The location is great and you get a clean accommodation with comfortable beds. But the price is very high for what you get. Pros - very comfortable bed (and not noisy) - location is great and easy to find if coming with train - shower has good water pressure and warm water comes quick... More

Thanks for your kind feedback this helps us to understand the way we can ge better. Unfortunately our central air conditioning system was settle still on "cold" mode as many of the customers still needed it because of the weather still pleasant. On 20th the system will be converted to heating by Diking specialized technicians. Shower dimensions are the one... More

I stayed at this hotel for three nights. Let me go over the CONS first: Steep set of stairs to bring you from Street to Front Desk First Level. No apparent option to have hotel help with luggage. An elevator from First level on is small, but functional. The Wi-Fi is very erratic, is does not works well in the... More

Located in city centre where sightseing location (all) was within walk distance. Very small hotel, also the room. But the staff was very helpful and kind. Stayed here for 3 nights in August 2015. Great location and really friendly staff. Staff were always ready to help whether it be recommending restaurants (we are vegetarian) or checking our rental car booking was all ok. all in all great experience

Great location that is only 5 minutes from the train station, which works great for those who are backpacking. The price was reasonable, and room comfortable. We were in Florence during July and it was very hot, but their AC worked great. The breakfast was quite nice. Only complaint, and it was echoed by other guests, was the internet was... More

Good things first: great location. Walking distance to duomo, train station, lorenzo or the leather goods market. Staff good in english. That is worth a 4 star. Breakfast is average, but ok. Others are just annoyingly run down. Lift is extremely slow and hot. Aircon makes more noise than cooling the place. We had to ask for a spare fan... More

Hotel Nizza has a great staff who are very helpful. It's located between the train station and the Doumo--or center of historic area. Rooms are clean, air conditioning works well, and bathrooms are quite adequate. There is an elevator but I'd recommend it for luggage only as it is SLOW and very warm when we were there. Breakfast was very... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
