The 4 of us (my girlfriend and two young adult daughters and I) stayed 3 nights here. I gave it four stars because of the value ($140 per night including all taxes, even the 3.50 per person per night local taxes you will have to pay at the hotel), but I would probably spend more money next time. PROS: *... More

The room was extremely small for the price paid, there are much better options. Service was very poor. When we checked out we were forced to pay with cash the tax portion of the bill, something that we were never required in previously. Wifi was very weak.

We chose this hotel because Expedia rated it highly and the price is very affordable for four people in one room. The hotel is the site of a synagogue from centuries past. The picture of Senor Benevieni hangs in the lobby. Even though the structure is around 500 years old (as most other structures in Florence), the lobby is very... More

The hotel was our hub for a 3 day trip. It is so centrally located that we could essentially get to any location (with the exception of the Michelangelo Plaza) within 15 minutes of walking. The rooms were spacious and the decor transported us back to ideas of the Renaissance periods of Italy. The beds were more than adequate to... More

Booked 2 nights here and everything was going well until I woke up in the middle of the night and realized we had bed bugs. 6AM we had booked another hotel for the second night and left. We were reimbursed for both nights but that can't even begin to make up for the distress I am going through now: an... More

In all fairness the hotel itself is ok and the location is great. The beds are hard, the breakfast is meager and minimal at best, the coffee is always burnt and the bells at the chapel NEVER stop. And...the one thing that cheesed me the most is the the minimal breakfast ( a couple of pastries, some under cooked boiled... More

We had a 3-night stay in this lovely, family-run hotel. The hotel is very close to the duomo (maybe 2-minutes to walk). The railway station is around a 10-15 minute walk and the Ponte Vecchio a similar distance. There is lift/elevator access to the upper floors as well as a wide stone staircase. From memory, I'm sure the owner said... More

Generally, I believe that hotels in Florence are overpriced in comparison to the rest of Italy, this hotel is not an exception but for Florence it is not too bad in terms of price. This small, family run, hotel is very centrally located on a side street about 20% of the way between the Duomo and the Piazza dells Signoria.... More

The Hotel Benivieni was a great place to stay. We were close to everything we wanted to see, and right by the Duomo. The hotel was clean and the price was reasonable. The owners of the hotel were very friendly and helpful, and we thoroughly enjoyed talking to them. We could walk everywhere from there and it had many wonderful... More

First let me start off with the positives. This hotel without a doubt is in the best location in the whole city. Most people who visit Florence come to see the massive duomo. This hotel is literally a block from the duomo. Its a 2 minute walk!!! There couldnt have been a better location for me to stay before visiting... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
