My friend and I stayed here for one night during our stay in Firenze. We had spent two nights in another hostel but wanted to stay here because we thought it would be an interesting experience. The convent itself is in a 15th century palace and very beautiful. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Our room looked over the garden... more

I just returned from my first experiment with staying in convents. For anyone who loves the feel of history and wants to save some money on accommodations but wants a clean place to stay, I strongly recommend the Casa Santo Nome di Gesu (The Franciscan Missionaries of Mary) Piazza del Carmine, [-------], www.fmmfirenze.it, email [------]. One of the first things... more

It's not every day you can stay in a convent, so we jumped at the chance. The rooms are very reasonable and the location is easy to get to by walking or by bus. The Sisters who live here are pleasant, charming, and speak English. We stayed in the 5 bed room upstairs which was an exceptional value if you... more

The Casa Santo Nome di Gesu stands on Piazza del Carmine, a parking lot for locals. Well-maintained, this convent offers comfortable rooms at a decent price (starting at 35 euros), with or without bathrooms, at a short distance from the main attractions (within 10-15 minutes walk for most of them). Three months in advance, I had reserved a room for... more

I guess we didn't expect that staying at a convent would be like staying a 5-star hotel, so we were delighted with our experience at the Casa Santo Nome di Gesu. I expected a convent to be somewhat Spartan and it was. What I didn't expect was such a large and beautiful room, or to open the balcony doors of... more

Florence – Casa Santo Nome di Gesu, room 15. This Franciscan convent was the best bargain of the trip at 70 euros per night. The bathrooms were not private for the most part, but there were four very close to our room and getting one was never a problem. The fixtures were modern. The room was large and included a... more

This is a beautiful 15th century palace that has been converted to a hostel and is also a functioning convent. The grounds are beautiful and the castle itself is lovely but--- the rooms are vey spartan. The breakfast consisted of a very hard roll, juice and coffee. The linens for batheing were not towels, rather more like sheets. This is... more

Enjoyed our stay at this convent. Room was on the frontside of the building so a little noisy at night but hardly a problem - we were exhausted at the end of each day anyway! Double room (2 x twins) was large and immaculate. Bathroom was down the hall and also immaculate. Breakfast was decent. Unfortunately they no longer serve... more

We enjoyed our short stay at this convent outside of the city center. Positives: The nuns are nice but no-nonsense. Only a few speak English but we managed to get by alright. One was nice enough to speak to a convent we wanted to make reservations at in Rome because no one there spoke English. The neighborhood is about a... more

Accomodations were basic. Shower in room does not mean there is a toilet. Price and room changed between the time I received the email confirmation in March and when we arrived on May31st. I had confirmed a double with shower but when I arrived there was only a triple with shower. Although I spoke to two different people and provided... more
