Stayed here for 3 nights in July 2015 and I would highly recommend this hotel. Its location is excellent, 5 minutes away from thr train station and the Santa Maria Novella church. Also, it's just a 15-20 minutes walk to the Dome and Ponte Vecchio. The room was big and spacious, with a perfectly functional AC. We had some issues... More

Now, 1;46 am in Italy. We can't sleep because of mosquito!!!! After 7 pm, the air conditioner is fixed... 27 degree. We asked them, it's so hot...they said, we couldn't do anything for it so if you feel hot, open the window. It's ridiculous but we did because we're so hot. Now, we killed 9 mosquitos. Can't imagine this is... More

Close to train station, large clean and well kept room, excellent breakfast, very helpful and courteous staff, the area loud and dirty because of central location not a place to stay for a quiet Florence holiday .

The hotel is located in centre, next to the train station, 7 min walking till Duomo. The room was big and clean, the bed is comfy, the bathroom is very good. There is a hairdryer, shower facilities, fridge and TV for those who need. The wifi signal was not working in our room so they came to instal individual wifi... More

This place was a lucky find we think, having received an apparently good deal through a booking website. Easy to find, very close proximity to the train station, yet removed enough to be away from the major pedestrian traffic at the station. It is also within easy walking distance of all the major sites in the city centre region. The... More

This hotel which is 5 minutes walk from SMN train station is a tranquil haven in the heart of the city. We were sceptical as to how relaxing and quiet it would be when we arrived and saw it situated on a busy road but it was superbly client, quaint and comfortable, with lovely friendly staff and an excellent breakfast.... The hotel room is pretty basic but was fine because I spent very little time in the room. The shower in the room could use some work. The free breakfast was great in the morning and the service was fantastic. The little patio out back is great.

We chose this hotel due to it being close to the train station. It was a very good choice, being walking distance also to the hop on hop off bus and a range of restaurants. The room was spacious and clean, and the bathroom was a decent size (with a bath/shower), which was a nice change from the one we... More

Loved the oldy-woldy wood panelled bedrooms; amazing continental breakfast; ecenong snacks and tea on the veranda. Easy to walk into central Florence and close to train station for day trips. A great stay all round.

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
