Luciano and his son Alessandro were excellent hosts. They contacted us and provided useful information prior to our arrival in Firenze and were exceptionally helpful upon arrival (restaurant & bar suggestions, touring strategies, local travel recommendations, etc.). Highly recommended if you want to experience Firenze as an Italian would. If you're looking for the Embassy Suites, this isn't for you.

I was for a few days in Florence and the Bellevue House was the best hotel! Top Location, clean rooms and you have everything you need - coffee, water kettle, mineral water served every day, air conditioner. It is a really great place. But what I liked the most were the hosts - extremely helpful and really really kind!!! They... More

An excellent location in city center, spacious and well-kept accommodations, informative and helpful staff with suggestions for restaurants, sites to see, including maps and directions - very comfortable beds!

This was the best overall place we stayed on our trip. The room was clean and comfortable, Alex and his father really made us feel at home. The location is conveniently close to the train station while all of the main attractions in Florence remain very walkable, and there are some terrific dining options as well. For lunch we enjoyed... We spent one night in Florence. Hotel is very close to the train/bus station. Historic centre is a short walk. The hotel is nice, and the family who runs the place is very friendly. Beware; no elevator to the rooms. Would recommend.

This wonderful place was perfect for a night of our honeymoon. I think they gave us the largest room they had. This family run place was so welcoming. Both the son and father were so helpful as far as where to go and what we might want to see. It is located just 2 blocks from the train station, and... More

They went out of their way in every way to make our stay better. They helped us with our luggage, the location is great being right near the train station, and they were a great help with figuring out where everything is, including dining suggestions. I would definitely stay there again!

We did like this place. 3 minutes to railway station and 15 to Duomo. So beautiful design of rooms and friendly hosts who gives priceless advices. It's a real Family Hotel. And all this only for 100 euro per night for 2 persons, I think it's more like a gift.

Rooms are huge and have everything you need, plus great wifi. The owners can't do enough to help, between carrying your bags up to your room and even helping us park the car. We have a baby with us and they even supplied us with milk for his bottle. Anytime we needed advise there was someone here to help us.... More

We loved our stay at the Bellevue House! Alessandro was amazingly helpful and informative. He gave us excellent advice for local dining and helped us set up museum reservations, saving us valuable time. The room was perfect for a family of four. We loved our stay and would love to come back.

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
