Had a beautiful view of the plaza in front of the lovely Church of Santa Maria Novella. This lovely little gem of a hotel was walking distance to every major attraction in the historic district of Florence but on one of the more serene squares, so you never felt overwhelmed by crowds.

We had a nice room overlooking the square. Breakfast was an adequate mix of cold meats, cheeses, fruit, juice and proseco. Pastry was nice and hot food was ok but not what most Americans are used to. The staff was friendly and efficient and we could walk anywhere from this location. Close to the train station which was useful. The... More

Stayed here in August for five nights with my wife to celebrate our twenty fifth wedding anniversary and we could not have picked a nicer hotel. We'd requested a room with a chapel view and for five mornings we could see the facade of Santa Maria Novella without lifting our heads from the pillow. The hotel itself had very welcoming... More

Have just stayed 2 nights in this beautiful hotel. I can't say enough about it. From the moment we stepped in the door we were made right at home. The staff are lovely, the setting is perfect indeed magical and the rooms beautiful. The breakfasts were great. There are plenty of restaurants nearby and lots of entertainment in the piazza... The hotel doesn't look that grand from the outside, but once you're inside it's quite nice. The location is sensational, overlooking the Santa Maria Novella Piazza, just a short walk from the train station. The staff are all very nice and there's nothing they wouldn't do to make the stay more comfortable. They had great restaurant recommendations. We had two... More

We loved this hotel and its perfect location in Florence to the train station and everything else. The rooms were spacious. The staff were absolutely lovely. We had a beautiful view of the piazza and enjoyed wonderful music every afternoon.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights in July and loved it. Location is perfect for walking around Florence. The hotel is charming and beautifully decorated. We had a large and comfy split level room on the 5th floor with views of the piazza. Breakfast was great in a lovely room. Brilliant staff!

Where do I start. Rooms are nice, breakfast is good, the staff are amazing (I had my phone taken at a concert and they helped get it back!) It is also the little things like on the breakfast table, they have a card showing what the weather is for the day. Great location too, just down from the Duomo. I... More

Stayed here for two nights and it was such an incredible time here. Everything was impeccable, from the cleanliness of the hotel room, the bathroom, the walk-in closet, to the views of the piazza below, to the amazing service staff provides upon arrival and departure. High ceilings, gorgeous and overly clean bathroom and complimentary drinks to boot. My wife and... More

Very good Hotel. The location is very good. If you have a hire car can be a little difficult to get to due to all the one way systems, but it is a city. The Hotel has a parking facility. Ok for ''normal cars'' is €35 per day or ''Luxury cars'' is €45 per day. For future guest i would... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
