Charming hotel in a fantastic location, walking distance to everything including bus & train station. We had room on second floor overlooking piazza.; spacious comfortable suite, nicely appointed. Breakfast buffet each morning was good with plenty of variety - even bacon and scrambled eggs! My husband travels a lot in Europe and he said that this hotel was one of... More

We stayed here five nights. Room was comfortable and included and extra bed with comfortable mattress for our teenaged daughter. Rooms are scrupulously clean. Staff consistently warm, gracious and helpful. Breakfast buffet has everything one could want - fresh fruit, eggs, meats, cheeses, vegetables. And of course, stellar caffe latte. We will return and I recommend it to everyone

We were able to check in a bit early which was awesome. The guy that checked us in, tried to make a few extra bucks by offering us a room with a view of the piazza. I already knew that they were sold out, so I'm guessing that a guest that checked in after us got the view without paying... More

Ranked as one of my top five favorite hotels in the world! I just fell in love with this romantic and stylish hotel. A beautiful property on Santa Maria Novella Piazza. The piazza is a beautiful place to people watch and one of the roomier, open areas in Florence. There are lovely quaint singers and musicians who come to play... More

The hotel is beautiful. The location is excellent. The staff are great. The only problem was that the air conditioning in the room would not get any cooler than 23 degrees (no matter what temperature the thermostat was set on). In addition, the wifi in our room did not work very well (maybe because we were in a corner room?).... More

Hotel is nicely appointed. Rooms are fine. Elevators slow though. Breakfast had a nice assortment, and staff was attentive. Wifi worked well. Front Desk helpful calling taxis if needed, or assisting with dinner reservations. Walking distance to Mercato Centrale, Leather Market, Duomo, Accadamia, and if you are energetic, the Uffuzzi as well. Convenient laundrymat around the corner.

We stayed here for three nights and loved it. A beautiful character room overlooking the piazza. Beautiful view at night of the piazza and so relaxing listening to the buskers. The room was spacious and loved the character of the hotel. The lady at the breakfast buffet was wonderful and even packed some food for my two young children to... More

Despite the plane being diverted and being bussed in, all was well after our arrival. Absolutely perfect boutique hotel across from its namesake, the Santa Maria Novella church & right on the plaza. Close to everything with a great view and the bells do toll, Quiet yet in the heart of Florence. You can walk everywhere from here. Reasonable rates... More

Amazing little hotel with such a quiet and calm feel to it even in the middle of the busiest square in town. Super friendly staff, and amazing breakfast. And the decor - just outstanding. Perfectly maintained with great respect to the original style. Just beautiful all around.

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights in June. It was a wonderful experience. Our room had a little balcony overlooking the piazza and the church. The decor was beautiful and it had location location location. It is an easy walk from the railway station. The staff were pleasant and helpful, breakfast was good, and served elegantly in a... Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
