We just recently returned home from our honeymoon in Italy and during part of our trip we stayed at the Palazzo Niccolini al Duomo (4 days 3 nights). We actually had our honeymoon gifted to us so we had no idea what to expect. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly by the owner who was so sweet and welcoming. She... More

The Palazzo Niccolini is our favorite hotel in the world. It is small but has all of the services you need and the rooms are spacious, thoughtfully designed, very clean and super comfortable. We have stayed in a couple of different rooms and were thrilled with both. The service is first rate. Whatever you need or want, the women working... More

This hotel was the crown jewel of our European vacation. With the very large rooms and frescos on the walls and ceilings you feel like your a Florentine aristocrat living during the Renaissance. Except that you have things like Nespresso machines, TV, complementary Internet etc. Their staff was so welcoming and accommodating - even to a family of seven. The... More

During the hottest time of the year, it was an unbeatable luxury to be able return to our haven hotel-home for a "siesta" before braving all the wonders of art and architecture again. Being so totally situated in the middle of everything is an unbelievable convenience. Thanks to all the staff, which helped make our time in Florence perfect! Hands... More

We had a lovely time at this hotel just a few steps from the Duomo and most of the other major sites in Florence. We walked everywhere with no problem. The room was exceptionally comfortable, the breakfast in the morning lovely and the drinks available in the common area in the afternoon a nice reprieve. Our only challenge was getting... More

The Palazzo is honestly faultless. It is a beautiful historic property sensitively refurbished in the heart of Florence. The location is perfect for exploring the city. The staff ensure you have privacy yet are available to help when needed. Our rooms were very comfortable, well appointed and beds very comfortable. Our children aged 20 and 26 felt the staff were... Super hotel, lovely people and perfect location for exploring Florence. We would thoroughly recommend. The rooms were finished to a high standard and you felt you were staying in a small palace! There was plenty of choice for Breakfast. Staff were very helpful and offered plenty of advice on what to see and do.

This is like a dream. The sitting room is like a Visconti film. There are books showing how the owners have renovated the palace to its c19 glory, and photos of the original family who lived there. Quite unique. Very, very comfortable and not extortionate for the quality.

This is a stunningly beautiful small hotel literally steps to Il Duomo. The rooms are gorgeous and the service is first class. Shamila the housekeeper has a smile on her face every morning with a cheery greeting. The continental breakfast is fantastic and it feels like you really are a guest in a palace. It is an easy walk from... More

This property almost adjacent to the Duomo in Florence is none like you have ever seen. We stayed in the "Dome Suite", a huge space literally across the street from the Duomo . As a Bed and Breakfast it is great. Wonderful breakfast, attentive staff. Reception staff is very knowledgable about everything Florence.

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
