Misleading photos!!! Our room was nothing to do with the photos on the site!!! We went there on December 28th. The room was too cold, one of the windows was really damaged causing noise and cold to enter the room. Humidity! (No carpet on the floor, floor made of tiles). The first night we couldn't sleep at all, because of the... More

This Hotel is located walking distance from the main centre of attractions. The Manager/Owners were extremely helpful and friendly. The best room in a Hotel during our whole trip. It was nice and spacious and very neat and clean. The Bathroom is new and modern. Overall our room was great!! The breakfast could have been better, basic, but fine. We... More

" Il Granduca" is very well situated as you can easily reach "Il Duomo" in a 10-15 minutes walk. We traveled by car and it was easy to find a parking place on the street, for 10 euro / day. The staff is very helpful, they made museum reservations for us before we arrived, and recomanded a good place to... More

This place was absolutely perfect! Charming decor & grounds, lovely rooms, top notch staff, great location, and delicious breakfast... My boyfriend and I discovered this hotel during a recent trip to Florence and we couldn't have been happier with our find! A quick walk to the center of the city but away from the tourist strips the Granduca is the... More

We have booked this hotel through Booking.com, after looking at the photos on the hotel's official site. It's true that a well-done photo can be deceiving. In the photos the hotel seems old-fashioned, but with large enough rooms and definitely not with bathrooms from 2.5 square-meters !!!! In fact, we (2 adults and a 13-year-old child) have been lodged with... More

Everything was great. The staff, the room, the breakfast, the location, the ambiance. I have really nothing that wasn't good about it. The price-quality ratio is perfect and you can easily walk from off the hotel to the historical centre. Around the corner there is a great restaurant called Taverna degli Artisti.

The hotel was in a great location, just a 10 minute walk to Florence Centre(Duomo) but just far enough that you dont feel like your surrounded by tourists. There is a great supermarket 2 minute walk from the hotel where you can buy cheap water, wine, beer and fresh fruit, meats, cheese and prepared sandwiches etc. The staff at Il... More

My experience at Hotel il Granduca was a great one and I would definitely recommend others to consider this place if they're visiting Florence. Within a 10-15-minute walk from the main tourist attractions, this quaint hotel provides a serene setting that is great for those who want a peaceful night's sleep. The hotel's owner, Sergio, is available every morning [making... More

Stayed at this hotel on a recent visit to Florence. Although the facility is old, the hospitality was awesome. My bed was not especially comfortable, but that was muted by the kind staff. Further, the location was very convenient. Would visit again.

Located about 15-walk from center, this is a quiet little world on it's own. Hotel Il Granduca is in a residence area with trattoria, bar and a supermarket in its surrounding. Staffs are friendly, helpful and with fine-taste which makes the stay in the hotel or the city-sightseeing very memorable. I'd come back if chances allow.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
