The hotel is close to the railway station (10 min walk) and the central market, also 10 mins to Duomo. Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. Breakfast is sufficient but can get busy later on, the free drinks at 6.30 are a nice touch. The lift is an interesting experience! They are undergoing an expansion to the ground floor... More

I stayed in this hotel a few years ago and was looking at it for another stay. Great little hotel in the heart of Florence Just a few steps from the Railway Station, Duomo, and great little restaurants all around. The rooms are clean, sleek with modern bathroom. I have read other people mentioning the lift. Yes it is very... More

Location, staff, room and breakfast were all great. We only spent two nights in this hotel after coming down from a villa in the hills, wish we had done it sooner. Highlight of the hotel is the staff, all very attentive and polite. I would definitely go back. Ps, you have to take a ride in their lift, even if... More

Location was fantastic - loved my stay at the Globus. Room was great, staff very friendly. Breakfast is basic but effective. The lady on the coffee machine was very helpful and made a great coffee. Also many good restaurants on the streets nearby. Couldn't ask for more - would definitely recommend.

We had a hire car in Italy and did not know that there is very little parking in Florence, the only places to park are the garages, which are expensive. After making a few wrong turns we found the property, was little late in the evening. We reached the reception after climbing a flight of stairs and were greeted with... More

Spent 2 nights (June 11 & 12, 2015) at the Globus Hotel. It's a short walk from the train station. All of the significant museums are within walking distance. We had 6 in our party, so 3 in each room. The rooms were small, as you would expect, but were clean and nice. And the air conditioning worked well in... More

Hotel is very close to Train station which is a big plus since all trips start from station. Uffizi museum and street markets are also near by. Its located in old city which gives real feel of Florence. Rooms are bit small and dim lights, but otherwise comfortable. Staff is co-operative & courteous. Complementary croissants and hot beverages are a... More

Very close to train station, large, quiet room with killer air conditioning. Excellent staff, nice breakfast. Do have to maneuver two flights of steep stairs to get to reception, but we were told they will be changing that in the near future, and relocating reception to the first floor. They didn't hesitate to help us up the stairs with our... More

Staying in San Lorenzo

Neighborhood Profile
San Lorenzo
San Lorenzo’s lively merchants shout out from behind stalls with an array of products in one of the most traditional neighborhoods in Florence. Different ethnic groups join together in the large outdoor market of San Lorenzo and in the Central Market, a vast multi-floored building. Visitors are bound to fall in love with this area and in particular, with its variety of food, especially those focusing on Florentine dishes as well as international selections. Nobody leaves San Lorenzo without a shopping bag in hand or with an empty stomach.
