Travelled to Florence with friends. We didn't get the rooms we had booked and paid in advance for, and when we queried this, members of reception staff were totally unconcerned and said we had reserved the very small shabby ones we were given on three different floors in different parts of the hotel. Tinned fruit salad one item of the... More

I have travelled to Italy many times and always enjoyed wonderful hospitality, but here I came across the rudest reception staff I've encountered in 40 years of european travel. I was one of a party of professional women on an art appreciation tour, all of whom are experienced travellers and we were firstly surprised and then upset by the sarcastic... More

The room they provided me was terribly small and they changed it with a bigger one but it was not clean. The owner was cross at me for my request to change the room. The bathroom was smelly and there was hair in the shower. Wifi is only avaiable in the lobby. The building is old with doors that allow... More

We booked this hotel as we wanted the view of the riveria and we asked for a room with it. It was right on the sea side with bars and cafes lined up below. There was no airconditioning and was pretty hot so we didnt get alot of "comfortable" sleep as the a/c goes on in peak summer between June... More

Having read a few unfavourable reviews, mainly about the staff, I am happy to say that I could not fault the staff for their welcome, friendliness and assistance. The hotel is a 10 to 15 minute walk from the Duomo and the train station. It is charmingly olde worlde with lovely gardens and a pool with sunbathing area and arbour.... More

This is a beautiful mansion set in its own charming grounds. The garden is lovely and very quiet with a pool, though we didn't use this. The rooms are clean and functional with a slightly odd decor, the bathrooms are perfectly fine although the shower is over the bath with just a plastic shower curtain. Just one large drawer for... Good location, average accomodation, average breakfast. The people that ran the hotel were the rudest people I have ever met and didnt change at all during our stay which was really dissapointing as it put a bit of a downer on our whole Florence experience. We were also charged to use the swimming pool and you had to pay to... More

Having read some of the reviews I was expecting the worst so I was pleasantly surprised to have had a good stay at the Hotel Royal. I was leading a group of high school students and adults and was pleased that they all enjoyed our stay for the two nights we were here. The best thing going for this place... More
