An impressive building decorated with some impressive Italian period furniture and antiques. Yes it is a little unusual with the bar situation (the attendees on reception were always willing to serve you however). The pool is an additional 8 euros per day but then it is the only hotel I am aware of in central Florence with a pool. We... More

We booked 5 nights at this hotel during a recent trip to Florence. The staff were really lovely. However I was disappointed with the hotel. The swimming pool was €8 per person per visit. (Add this to the city tax at €5 per person per night and price of the room before comparing hotels) The swimming pool opening hours changed... More

We arrived in mid May from venice, to find the hotel covered in scaffolding, therefore we could not open shutters in our room. The hotel was undergoing a face lift and roof repairs. It was around 28 deg C when we were in florence, and we specifically booked a hotel with a pool with the idea of cooling down after... More

Hotel Royal is located right on the edge of Florence's congestion zone which is perfect for parking your car and taking the 15 minute stroll to downtown area. The staff is very welcoming and the Hotel has a bit of old-school charm with real keys and décor consisting of old antiques, paintings, and creaky floorboards. The Hotel is currently undergoing... Located close enough to the city center that a quick afternoon nap was possible in between museum visits and general sightseeing. The staff was very nice and welcoming. Free wifi in the lounge only. The decoration was a bit dated but room and bathroom were spotlessly clean.

Hotel is under external construction (but did not bother us) interior is breathtaking. Our students rooms were huge and comfortable as well as clean. Our first rooms (singles) were like a shoebox but this was quickly fixed and our new rooms were lovely. Staff bent over backwards to please us! Full of antiques. Only downside is the breakfast is terrible... More

Recently visited this hotel as part of a school visit to Florence. The building is very impressive and oozes history. The rooms are all well equipped and are of good size. Main thing is the entire hotel is spotless and staff were helpful. Breakfast was nice with a good selection of food. Highly recommended

Travelled to Florence with friends. We didn't get the rooms we had booked and paid in advance for, and when we queried this, members of reception staff were totally unconcerned and said we had reserved the very small shabby ones we were given on three different floors in different parts of the hotel. Tinned fruit salad one item of the... More

I have travelled to Italy many times and always enjoyed wonderful hospitality, but here I came across the rudest reception staff I've encountered in 40 years of european travel. I was one of a party of professional women on an art appreciation tour, all of whom are experienced travellers and we were firstly surprised and then upset by the sarcastic... More
