Our stay with Michelangelo and Sylvia was truly special. This wonderful old farmhouse is definitely a no-frills place, but we truly felt like it was our home for a few days. Michelangelo and Sylvia cooked us awesome meals where nearly everything came from their gardens, wine and olive oil included. They were a blast to share meals and conversation with.... More

Beautiful location, friendly and interesting hosts. The food was great - particularly the wild boar. Fortunately there were no wild bores at dinner - Michelangelo and Silvia were lovely, as were the other guests. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Don't expect luxury and all the trimmings - expect a simple but wonderful experience. For this is very much Michelangelo & Silvia's home and they are very welcoming hosts. Supper was a special treat; and for breakfast too, most ingredients were home grown. We toured in Tuscany for 4 days - our stay in this Podere will remain a rich... More

Of all the places that we stayed in our month in Italy, our experience of 5 days and 4 nights at Podere la Casellina is what made the trip truly outstanding—time and again when we describe the highlights, it is our experiences there that we exclaim about. Michelangelo & Silvia together with their children and M’s mother Marissa made us... More

We decided to stay here over the new year but I think we were given the worst room in the house! It's a working farm and both Silvia and Michelangelo are charming, the views are great it's just spoilt by it being very cold!

So, it obviously helps if the 1st meal you sit down to is wild boar, cooked on an open fire by your hostess & eaten with 3 other guests, psychoanalysts from Trieste: the holiday, we thought, was shaping up to be something memorable and indeed it was, in the best possible way. The podere rooms are clean, cool, comfortable &... More

Consider yourself blessed if you get to experience a stay here! You will feel immersed in real Italian culture and international friendship. Note the podere is actually in the little village of Brollo (about 4 km out of Figline Valdarno). If the sign is not up, ;-) coming out of Figline it's the turn off right after what appears to... What a fabulous peaceful place. The old fashioned kitchen, the cosy rooms which were spacious and spotless. Silvia is a brilliant cook and I took quick notes of her pasta making. What can I say? I sat and read a book by an open window, with the Tuscan countryside attempting to distract me. Michelangelo was tending the fields, the chicken... More
