This hotel is the worst that I have ever been to. It is very chaotic, front desk are horrible, very impolite (Luka or Louis). He literally yelled at me. The bed sheets are clean but the covers and everything else smells, and you can tell they have been not washed in ages. When I arrived, one of the garbage bins... More

This hotel was dirty. It smelled because there were lots of cigarette butts on the window ledges of both the bathroom and room windows. The door plate wasn't fastened tightly so the lock wasn't secure. There were holes in the bedspread and the extra pillow was badly stained (I shudder to think why). The shower water just ran out onto... More

Yes this is a 2 star hotel but it was great value for money. Fantastic location, just a quick walk from all the main attractions in Florence. Also surrounded by great shops and restaurants. The room was a decent size, along with the bathroom. Air con worked and the room had a TV. The lobby downstairs looks a bit average... More

The Hotel is located three blocks fron Florence Main Train Station (Santa Maria Novella) so it's a walking distance if traveling by train. During my four days inf Florence i didn't need to used any kind of transportation, because the hotel is virtually 'walking distance' from everything. The hotel is housed in an Old Building, and its doesn't seem quite... More

Almost all the major attractions of Florence are within walking distance to the hotel. The downside though is the lack of parking space and large rooms. The train station is just a short walk away and there are lots of eateries around too. Rooms are small but reasonably maintained. Overall a nice recommend.

We went for business over a very busy period and in terms of the location it was good. For everything else I would suggest booking early and finding somewhere with a little more comfort! It was good value for money but bearing in mind that weekend everywhere was €250 plus it comes at a price.

My fiancee and I hadn't expected much based on the price and the location but the hotel disappointed in every regard. The room was filthy. Absolutely filthy. I understand a few stains but there is no excuse for just not cleaning a room before or during our stay. The carpet had balls of hair and crumbs all over it and... More

The Hotel Spagna & Hotel Deco are now one in the same. I can honestly say that this is the absolute worst hotel I have ever had the misfortune of staying in. It is a Hell hole. From the minute I stepped into the lobby I realised I had made a massive mistake booking the place. It was filthy, the... More

Stayed here for two nights and cannot complain - the people I stayed with weren't so impressed but I've been on many holidays in 2* budget apartments in Greece so I'm easily pleased! Simple but clean rooms, air con didn't work amazingly but hey ho, you even get a TV and free wifi which most budget places don't have! Location... More

My friend & I booked this hotel despite the poor reviews & being of the opinion that all we needed was a place to sleep & to wash. We won't be making that mistake again! Staff: Of the 3 male members of reception staff we encountered, 1 was grumpy & bordered on rude & another was just disinterested. The 3rd... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
