My experience was less than pleasant. I made the reservation wrong (which was totally my fault), but the reception girl noticed my mistake and didn't say anything. So when I arrived they had already charged me and made me go to a more expensive room (they said it was all they had), because I was a no show to my... More

I traveled to Florence in July, as a solo female backpacker my chief concerns are always safety and location. Staying this hostel not only addressed these issues, but also delivered in many more ways. Its clean, convenient and has a ton of facilities, I must say all the good reviews here are true. So if you're off to Florence on... More

Location: - Great location; walking distance (4 min) from Santa Maria Novella train station and around the corner from cafes, market stalls, city centre etc. without too much noise. Room: I initially stayed in a 5-person dorm and then a 4-person room. The building exterior and interior are old, which is the nature of this city. While not modern facilities,... More

I stayed in this hostel when I was travelling around Italy. It was excellent value for money and in a fantastic location. I stayed in a shared female dorm that was clean and well sized. The hostel provided breakfast in the morning that was well stocked with all kinds of food- not limited to breakfast items (pasta, puddings etc.) and... More

This is an excellent hostel for budget travellers. The hostel itself is clean and spacious, as was the 6 bed dorm i stayed in. There is a lovely outdoor area to hang out in as well. The staff were helpful too. They do two excellent walking tours at 10am each morning, it was interesting and informative, not just "look here,... More

The really good: Perfect location with walking distance to train station and city centre. The breakfast was top notch and pretty impressive, better than many hotels I have stayed at. The dining room is really really cool with attention payed to the details! The "hidden" yard and the terass is pretty nice too. The "OK": Staff friendlish. Rooms: average to... More

perhaps the high ranking is because reviews are getting mixed with the hotel next door? i stayed in the HOSTEL (ostello in italian) and paid 30 euros/night for a four person room, the beds were old dirty and the worst value for my money i encountered on my travels. this aside, great location - close to train station and city... Stayed here for 4 nights. Booked a single room but a few days before checking in, received an email informing room was not available for first 2 nights and they offered a dorm bed. Arrived at hostel and found they did get me a private single room but with no power points!! Had to pass my cell phone to reception... More

Out of the 26 hostels I have used from Russia to San Diego, this would have to rate as the best. The location was close enough to the sites. Florence (Firenze) is a walkable town from this hostel. The building was clean, had wi fi in the rooms (not the norm, and greatly appreciated),a nice courtyard on different levels and... More
