The hotel is right next to the train station, which is super because we don't have to walk far after a long day of travel. The owner and the staffs are nice, the lobby looks new and modern. The free breakfast buffet is packed with fresh bread and fruits. The room was big and it was clean. The bathroom was... More

This is a great hotel, just right across the SMN train station. Room is big and bed are just so comfortable. Breakfast is quite good. The service from the counter is definitely the most friendliest and helpful i ever received from the European hotels i stayed. They gave good recommendations to restaurant as well. Would definitely stay back in this... More

The hotel was lovely but a gent on reception quizzed guests and made us feel like we weren't welcome. A shame for all the hard work other members of staff were doing to make guests feel welcome. I'd give it a miss. Near the train station, good location but the repeated bad staff experiences put us off visiting again.

Dear Guest, I thank you for your post I'm so happy you had good impression of the hotel. I'm so sorry about her feeling on our staff, as you see from all other reviews our staff as a good relation with the guest, but this is the second advise in 14 years like this, we are always available for every... We only stayed for one night at Hotel Aurora on our way from Italy to France, but we would more than happily stay there again! The staff are all very friendly and helpful and took time out to explain some good places to see and restaurants to eat at. The room had a large bathroom and a big bed, along... More

This recently renovated hotel is located directly across from the Santa Maria Novella train station on Via Luigi Alamanni 5, and is convenient to all the points of interest by foot. The staff is very helpful, the rooms comfortable and clean, and the breakfast excellent and ample. Giovanni and Davide both speak excellent English, and know the area well, especially... More

While this hotel is currently undergoing renovations (to be completed shortly), the location, price and overall design make it an amazing value. Room was large with rainfall shower, free wifi, free breakfast in beautiful garden, walkable from the train and bus station in Florence, and incredibly convenient to all the major sites of the city. The staff was very helpful... More

We chose the Hotel Aurora because we were stopping in Florence for only one night (on our way from Venice to Rome) to see an exhibit at the Palazzo Strozzi and didn't want to bother with taxis. The hotel was being renovated on the outside and had been renovated on the inside. We had booked a Deluxe room and it... More

Dear Guest, I thank you for your review and for the time you spend for this. We are just a little bit confused from your description because for instance: our garden is absolutely private, no car or external person can go inside, except passing from the reception and blocking the porter, (the porter if you are not a guest don’t... Stayed there during April for 4 days. A wonderfully neat and clean hotel with a decent breakfast was a surprise for the price it came for. Also it's proximity to the SMN Station is a huge plus point. It is 10 minutes walk from the city center and the the main market. Also easy for those who want to do... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
