PROS: Great location, for those who travel by train and carry many luggage, you just cross the street from Santa Maria Novella and arrived!, and all touristic areas are pretty close. The hotel have elevator. Good breakfast. CONS: Fridge not cool enough

I stayed here in September for 2 weeks. The hotel is really great - I actually got upgraded on arrival to a suite which was really nice. The staff are what make this place. I believe the owners (elderly couple on the front desk) to be some of the nicest people I have come across on the my travels. Location... More

Everything was just perfect! Very closed to the train station. Charming little hotel with a pretty little garden. Breakfast was very good and the room lovely and clean. Will return there for sure! I especially would like to mention the very warm welcome by the proprietor!

Nice little hotel, right next to train station & 10 minutes walk to 'town' & loads of restaurants etc. Room was a bit basic but great bathroom & shower. I mention when booking that we were travelling throughout Italy to celebrate our wedding anniversary & on 1st night a bottle of champagne & nibbles arrived, nice touch. Lovely, friendly, helpful... We arrived at this charming hotel with our big luggages and was warmly welcomed by Giovanni and his friendly staff. This small, classic hotel is so perfectly located and that we only need to cross the street to get to the train station or walk a little to go to the beautiful Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and all... The hotel is right next to the train station, which is super because we don't have to walk far after a long day of travel. The owner and the staffs are nice, the lobby looks new and modern. The free breakfast buffet is packed with fresh bread and fruits. The room was big and it was clean. The bathroom was... More

This is a great hotel, just right across the SMN train station. Room is big and bed are just so comfortable. Breakfast is quite good. The service from the counter is definitely the most friendliest and helpful i ever received from the European hotels i stayed. They gave good recommendations to restaurant as well. Would definitely stay back in this... More

The hotel was lovely but a gent on reception quizzed guests and made us feel like we weren't welcome. A shame for all the hard work other members of staff were doing to make guests feel welcome. I'd give it a miss. Near the train station, good location but the repeated bad staff experiences put us off visiting again.

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
