The hotel is located in an historic building and provided a quiet and clean room in a great location. They provided a nice, typical Italian breakfast each morning. The hosts provide a nice, detailed instruction of how to use the electronics in the room. The only thing that prevents me from giving this hotel a perfect score is the A/C... More

Tourist House Ghiberti was a fantastic place for us to stay (2 adults with a 2.5 year old child) for our 4 days in Florence. The hosts have thought of everything! The room was huge, newly renovated, impeccable, quiet and relaxing. We stayed in the room adjacent to the sauna, and it was absolutely silent. The amenities such as water... More

We stayed at Tourist House Ghiberti back in July 2015 on our honeymoon. The staff was extremely welcoming, the room was spacious and offered a lot of nice touches. The location could not be beat -- a 5 minute walk to the Duomo. We enjoyed the plentiful breakfast, the friendly staff who graciously helped with all our requests, and the... More

Very comfortable bed, spacious and clean rooms, large bathroom, every attention to detail was very much appreciated. I thought that the breakfast could have been better but everything else about this hotel is great and I would come back!

A really nice location, so close to the Duomo. Staff were really helpful and the room was a good size and spotless. We found it very good value being so central with more character thsn the local hotels.

We appreciated the many nice features and thoughtful touches provided by this property, including the brand new and excellent air conditioning, the fact that it had a lift for heavy luggage, the separate reading lights and headphones, and even the optional, plug-in insect repellent, should a mosquito make it into our room (none did). We also appreciated the excellent on-site... More

Walking into the room over the cool terracotta flooring, the owner was extremely comprehensive about the facilities of the spacious room and all the general nuts and bolts. Breakfast was fresh and always plentiful, and the location is hard to beat - really. Short strolls through cobblestone streets to every major attraction. Would recommend. Reasonable price, perfect location, authentic and... More

All the comforts of home and more... perfect location in the heart of Florence. Good night's sleep, tv, wifi, reading lights, clean well lit and spacious bathroom. Delicious cappucino for breakfast, nice collection of travel guides and books. Quiet even though located on a busy narrow street (double paned windows!). It is a great value! We enjoy every visit at... More

Tourist House Ghiberti is a block away from the Duomo, which is great. It's also across the street from the hospital, which is less great, since you can hear the ambulances arriving with their sirens going, until around 11 at night. It's possible that they also arrive later than that, but that I slept through it. There's also a bus... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
