This is an older hotel located from the old city, about 15 minute walk away. This is a big plus in Florence, considering the crazy foot traffic in the center, especially on the weekend (doesn't stop until 5PM). The train station is about 10 minutes away, so is the bus station to Siena. The room is older, and the bathroom... More

Had a very enjoyable stay here - clean facilities, great breakfast and fantastic service. Within walking distance to most of the major sites but I did find it a bit "removed" at night if you wanted to pop out quickly to a shop or restaurant. I would stay here again and recommend it highly.

We stayed in Florence for 3 nights, this hotel was in walking distance of everywhere, we were greeted by one of owners I believe who was just absolutely lovely, he showed us to our room and gave us a map of all the important things to visit, it was nice and quiet at night and the breakfast was quite substantial,... Everything was perfect: a very clean room, nice staff, good location and big breakfasts. The room was very big, as well as the toilet. The receptionists were really kind, and breakfasts were excellent.

This is a classic Italian B and B in a great location with a fantastic owner. It's a short walk from the train station- ideal if you're travelling on the shuttle from Pisa airport and a short walk into the centre for all the main attractions and markets. The rooms were very well maintained and the pastry breakfast was tasty... More

Oh, I just realized a bunch of other people have written the staff at the hotel are really friendly. Well, I will stress it: they are indeed friendly. We had a great time at the hotel: clean, out of the touristy loop, the pizza at the restaurant next door is quite good, the risotto place right in front though is... More

Whatever this little hotel lacks in modern style totally makes up in charm. The room was perfect for us, with shower in room, decent bed and t.v. With French, German and English channels. The bathroom is very small but has great water pressure with plenty of hot water (we never ran out)and a trusty toilet that flushed faithfully. The manager... More

Good hotel with very accomodating personel: I didn't really like my room but it wasn't a problem to move me to a more suitable room. The breakfast was average but enough to sustain you for a morning or rather until you can't resist the temptation to buy ice cream in the city :) The owner is very friendly, made good... More

Pretty happy with the location (only 10 min walk from the main station and 15 to Duomo)...and it's also in a quiet residential area away from the madness...room was clean (but shower is super tiny...so narrow I had difficulty bending down to reach my lower legs) and comfortable... staff were friendly and always available/helpful...my only complaint was having to go... I rate this a 4/5 for what you get--a hotel that is close to the main tourist sites/train station, a hotel that is quiet, and a hotel that is a more reasonable price than others. However, it's not a 4-star hotel, so don't expect this. I spent 2 nights here for the Florence leg of my trip to Italy. When... More

Staying in San Lorenzo

Neighborhood Profile
San Lorenzo
San Lorenzo’s lively merchants shout out from behind stalls with an array of products in one of the most traditional neighborhoods in Florence. Different ethnic groups join together in the large outdoor market of San Lorenzo and in the Central Market, a vast multi-floored building. Visitors are bound to fall in love with this area and in particular, with its variety of food, especially those focusing on Florentine dishes as well as international selections. Nobody leaves San Lorenzo without a shopping bag in hand or with an empty stomach.
