Hotel staff can make or break a stay, and we can honestly say that the staff at this hotel made our stay truly enjoyable. From the moment we arrived, until the minute we left, we felt like family. They offered solid advice, shared stories, checked the internet for information and ticket availability, and even wished me a happy birthday (which... More

We stayed at several inexpensive pensiones and small hotels in Italy during the height of tourist season. Hotel Perseo was the best value by far. One of the the very best features was that the hotel had air conditioning. No other hotel in this price range had air conditioning, which is a pretty big deal in August. Even without the... More

We had fabulous time staying at this hotel. It was 2 minute walk to Duomo and 7 minute to SMN, and L'Academia, right in the heart of Florence. The hotel is a family style small hotel managed by some of the nicest people in Italy. All staff members spoke fluent English and were very helpful with information and arrangement. They... More

Florence and the Hotel Perseo was our last stop driving from Rome. We were anxious to dump our car. When we found the Hotel Perseo and dropped off our luggage our Host Louise gave us perfect directions and instructions to drop off our car. Driving is crazy in Florence and she could see our fatigue and angst...when we got back... More

Perseo is just a stone throw away from the main city centre, Duomo. But what stands out most other than the location is the wonderful staff. They help you practically in everything. Especially Laura and Louise. Hats off to the hospitality. A big thumbs up. Would definitely recommend. As far as the rooms are concerned, everything was cleaned up everyday... More

We had 2 single rooms for 4 nights and all aspects of the stay were good. The selling points for this hotel are: the location which is an easy walk from Santa Maria Novella train station and also very near the Duomo and Florence’s historic centre; breakfast is included – typical spread for Italy; the staff were friendly & helpful.... I've been fortunate enough to travel a bit and, upon reaching the address, there was a couple entering the 'rough' elevator up to the hotel. They expressed some concern and I only laughed and said, "relax", this is Italy. Of course, I had not shared I've stayed there twice before. The breakfasts are more than adequate, but the room and... This hotel is exactly what I like: simple but vey clean, new furniture, good bed, good breaksfast and polite staff. It's 10min walking distance from the train station and only 1min from Duomo. Highly recommended.

What can we say, except :) :) We stayed here 2x in 2008, at the beginning & end of a trip to Umbria. When discussing where to go for our 25th wedding anniversary this fall, we finally said, "Let's go back to Florence, and stay at the Perseo !" We just got back (on Nov. 16, 2015) from our 10-day... Great location, excellent service and very nice rooms. Nice breakfast and staff go out of their way to help with day trips and directions. The Tuscany area is very easy to get to. Many beautiful churches close by. Restaurants in the area are very good.

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
