Abaco Hotel is in a great location and is in walking distance to all attractions. The staff was very friendly and incredibly helpful throughout our stay. The rooms and communal areas are filled with culture and charm. A true hidden gem in Florence!

This hotel is much like many in Europe. The rooms are small, and the bathroom is more like a cupboard than an en-suite. Having said that the rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. The breakfast area was also pretty small, not sure all the guests could occupy it at once. The breakfast was basic, the croissants were nice and... More

Visited the hotel for a short break in October 2015, we were looking for a reasonably priced hotel in a decent location and the Hotel Abaco met both of those requirements. The hotel is slightly quirky and not for those who are looking for a bit of luxury, however our room was comfortable and clean, The bathroom was very small... More

The place was little difficult to find as the hotel sign board is so small that we missed it twice. One has to climb a steep flight of stairs.. ' a lot of stairs' to actually reach the hotel. It is a boutique hotel with theme based rooms on famous Italian artists. We stayed in the Leonardo room which was... More

This hotel is in an old building in a very central area. Close to everything you want to visit, all walking distance. The lady at the front desk is very friendly and helpful. Affordable prices as they can be flexible with your budget, which is an unusual kindness in the business :) the rooms are very clean and with a... More

Abaco operates from the second floor of a centuries-old palace, and guests climb stairs to the second floor because elevators cannot be installed in this historical building (the website advises this information, so no one should complain). The rooms are small, like many European hotels, and are beautifully decorated, each with artwork of a prominent artist (try to get the... More

Hotel Abaco has a terrific location very close to nice restaurants, gelato, shopping, train station, the duomo, and sunset bridges. Our room was spacious for 4 people. We didn't realize that Florence has a large no-driving zone downtown, which made getting to it difficult, but driving in Florence in general is a bad idea. This would be ideal for anyone... More

Although this is a wonderful hotel for families, young people and couples, I've been there eight times with large groups of students. It is my favorite hotel ever. I discovered Abaco in 2005 when planning a travel course to Italy, and we've returned every time. You can see the nearby Duomo from the entrance, and everything in the center of... More

Don't expect the Savoy with this small but ideally located hotel, I would consider it more as a B&B. My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights recently, it is only 5 minutes to the central rail station in Florence, with all the main attractions and high street stores and numerous bars and restaurants just a short stroll away.... Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
