Central location with easy access to trains, museums, shopping and food. Lovely owner/manager. May not be modern, but charming. wi-fi available in lobby-better than nothing! For the price you cannot beat this. I stayed in a $250 a night hotel in Florence at the end of my stay and it was noisy and not as convenient!

The location is definitely the best part of this hotel, it sits on the road between the station and the Duomo so you can easily get to some of the sights in a few minutes! As two young backpackers we thought the hotel was value for money.. It was clean and functional. There wasn't free wifi, nor air conditioning (only... More

We really liked this hotel! It was cheap and cheerful, but the breakfast was simple and generously sized. The hotel was perfectly located and everyone working there spoke great english and were really helpful. We'd recommend it for a budget hotel!

OK, if you have read my reviews you know that I am not a picky traveler when it comes to where I sleep - I would rather explore anyway. When we traveled to Italy this summer we wanted to do it on a budget, so that's that, however, the La Gioconda advertised much better quality than what we experienced. The... More

Let me start by saying that the staff were great and very friendly but this is not a 3 star hotel, I've stayed in nicer 1 star hotels. It's old and worn and uncared for. The paint is chipping from walls and there were stains on the sheets. The air con is a joke, it might as well not be... More

I'm not usually one to be picky, but this is the worse hotel to stay in! Sleeping with barely any AC in July is impossible. And just looking at the bed is disgusting! Let alone sleep in it! The walls are paper thin and you can hear the neighbors complaining! And every time I would finally get some shut eye,... More

i am not a fussy person, but this was the most terrible hotel that I have ever been to. The staff were just awful. I had to go to hospital and they would not help at all, even though I was bleeding like mad over everything. Not a nice place to go to at all.

The internet does'nt work just like no hot water. Fourth flore no elevator and no one to help you with the luggage. Breakfast not eatable, no eggs, no yogurt, no vegetables, no good coffee. Dont come in!

This hotel's location is great. You're in the heart of the city, 5 to 15 minutes away from all touristic attractions (santa maria novella, etc.) But that's the only good thing about the hotel. One of the beds was broken, the air conditioner was old, noisy and inefficient, we didn't have hot water (but the temperature was 35C outside, so... More

We booked this last minute based on price and location alone. Location is excellent and we got the room for 99 Euro a night. We have paid far less in other cities i.e. Verona for a lot better, but it's Florence and it's expensive ( dorm rooms in hostels were 54 euro!). Staff were polite and helpful and I think... More

Staying in San Lorenzo

Neighborhood Profile
San Lorenzo
San Lorenzo’s lively merchants shout out from behind stalls with an array of products in one of the most traditional neighborhoods in Florence. Different ethnic groups join together in the large outdoor market of San Lorenzo and in the Central Market, a vast multi-floored building. Visitors are bound to fall in love with this area and in particular, with its variety of food, especially those focusing on Florentine dishes as well as international selections.
