Hotel Scoti is not a full service hotel, no room service or laundry. But it is one of my favorite places to stay in the world. It is located in a 16th century palazzo on the main shopping street in the oldest part of Florence, on the second floor of a building that houses the city's oldest men's club. The... More

The hostess was not very friendly. As if the rooms are in her house. We had to be very quiet. The lift is extremely small, only one person with lugguage can fit in it. Breakfast is really bad. But the location made up for it all.

We travelled the year before with a group of friends and we all loved this place. It's a traditional European pensione, so not a hotel experience, which suited us fine as we just slept there and wandered around the city centre for all of our meals and did laundry external. No TV was neccessary in this amazing location. It featured... More

We so enjoyed our stay there. Doreen, who confesses to being a talker, was delightful! She provided helpful details in answering all of our questions. The trompe-l'oeil frescoes in the common room made us feel like we were still in the great churches and museums we visited during the day and the free wi fi was a bonus. The location... More

People expecting a full-service hotel (I'm referring to some of the negative reviews on here) need to realize that this is a pensione, which usually mean few to none of the usual amenities. With Hotel Scoti, the rooms do not have a TV or irons, and towels are not replaced on a daily basis. Sachets of shampoo and soap are... More

We stayed at Hotel Scoti for 3 nights. The location was great - right in the heart of Florence. Doreen, the innkeeper, is a charming woman who was most helpful with recommendations. The rooms were very clean. Would definitely stay here again.

Hotel Scoti is right in the heart of Florence, the location can't get better for a tourist. Step out of the hotel building and you are in the middle of designer brand outlets. All major tourist attractions of Florence are walkable from the hotel. The next bit is the old building and the really old lift, both have their own... More

We are wrapping up our 3 night stay here tomorrow and we couldn't have been more pleased, so much so, I had to review it before we left and I forgot. The building is tucked in between many designer stores on a fabulous road. The building is 500 years old, and yes their is no air conditioning, but it cools... More

We were in this hotel last year. That was the first time we were staying in a one star hotel and my boyfriend was really concerned about how it might have turned out. I'm glad that we picked this hotel, because it was in a very nice location close to the center, managed by a family, very clean. The only... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
