We've camped here at least 4 times - always coming back as we love the location & facilities. Bus stop just outside the entrance, pizzeria & bar with lovely terrace overlooking the Duomo, awesome coffee at breakfast, shop. Walk into town is from Piazzale Michelangelo down some old steps & entering San Niccollo district through original city gate (near where... More

The location of this camping is really authentic and great- you are below Florence, the view is spectacular, but thats all about it!! Otherwise, the camping facilities are dirty and disgusting, next to camping there is a night club, the music is so loud, you cant sleep till 3am. No shop inside, only restaurant/bar. You have to climb to the... More

I stayed at this location with my TopDeck Tour and our assigned camping location was terrible because there was cords all over the ground and grounds were not maintained. The free wifi was only working closes to the general area, which was fine since the connection was good. Walking to town was a short walk, ~15 minutes, down a hill... More

Avoid this awful campsite. Starting with the facilities: The toilets were fair, although they didn't look as if they had been cleaned recently. Both the mens and womens' shower cubicles were dirty, and the locks were broken. Also, none of the water points around the campsite were in operation. Location wise, it was looking good as the campsite provides views... More

It's not much, but for a camping it's great. The prices are good even if you don't have a tent. The view over the city is awesome. Only problem is if you have to walk there with your backpack. If you do, you're in for a lot of calories burning =)

For camping this is definitely amazing! We booked it online and it said "Sleeping Room" but when we got there it was a tent with beds. It was fine, but we weren't really prepared for camping so at night it was FREEZING cold and kind of a lot mosquitos...There is a club close by and you could really hear the... More

Had a great time staying here, the reviews did not give us high expectations so we where very vary. Reception where helpful, did take a few minutes to find the tents but when we got there they where clean and comfortable. No plugs but we just charged at the restaurant which was no hassle. Beware of bites, insect repellent is... More

This campsite has the best view over Florence you can get. You can walk into Florence in 15 minutes which is really good but it's a very steep hill down and a very steep hill back up! The camp ground itself was ok. The ground is all uneven and full of twigs and stones so take a good ground mattress.... More

That was a good surprise when I arrived there and saw the amazing view at the bar... the tends were nice, but I missed spots to charge my cellphone. The location is perfect, because it is near from Michelangelo's square and the best club in Florence!!!

I hate camping but I saw this place online and thought it would be a good compromise between a hotel and a tent. Worst decision ever! Firstly the bar next to the camp blasts bass music until 3-4am in the morning, It is obscenely loud and impossible to sleep through. The tent was covered in spiderwebs and squashed bugs on... More

Staying in Piazzale Michelangelo

Neighborhood Profile
Piazzale Michelangelo
Just outside the ancient walls of Florence, Viale Michelangiolo starts. It is a winding road rimmed by wonderful poplars and holm oaks. The long ascent opens up to the most beautiful and famous panoramic viewpoint of Florence: Piazzale Michelangelo, where an elevated terrace offers visitors an incomparable and breathtaking view of the entire city from above. During good weather, Piazzale Michelangelo provides visitors with a serene space surrounded by the amazing landscape, better if accompanied by a fresh gelato from a local kiosk. During night, visitors will be dazzled by the warm lights of the capital of the Renaissance. Spend a second with the silent Romanesque beauty of the Basilica of San Miniato al Monte: the one that wishes good morning and good night to Florence!
