Francesco was great, facilitating a late-ish check-in and helping arrange an early morning cab ride to the airport. Room was pretty good sized for an urban place to crash. Neighborhood/building was a bit noisy but that's city living for you. Bathroom was en suite but the shower is almost comically small. See city living, above. Hotel is not a B... More

From the Novella House B&B you enjoy very easy access to Santa Maria Novella station and the old town . The room we stayed in was very clean and functional for our needs. There are no words to express our gratitude to Francesco who was the perfect host and made our stay a wonderful experience . We arrived at the... More

An excellent location for exploring central Florence on foot. If you take a car into the city there is a secure garage several hundred metres walk & it charges 20 Euros each day. The room was large but the shower & separate toilet were very small & very restrictive for anyone who is tall. It is very popular with one-night-only... More

The location is absolutely perfect its within walking distance to everything. Our room was huge and also there is a separate sitting part which came in handy as my husband got a 24 hour gastro... The shower is a bit on the poky side but still a nice shower. There is a place almost next door you can buy wine... More

Loved this b&b and location is awesome. It is 200m to the train station and within walking distance to many restaurants. On check in, the staff is very friendly and helpful and has a map ready for you with places recommended. The room is very big with high painted ceilings. It felt a bit like I'm in a museum when... Stayed here early July for 4 nights and it was great! Only a five minute walk from the station and a ten minute walk to all the main areas of Florence. The rooms were large with a separate seating area, large bedroom, hallway and bathroom. The bed room had a beautiful painted ceiling which made the room feel cosy and... More

My friend and I stayed here for 4 nights in early July. Francesco and the other staff were so kind and friendly and did everything possible to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The rooms were perfect size and very clean. The hotel is a short walk to most top attractions and Francesco happily booked our tickets for us... More

We were two senior couples with our own separate apartment and an elevator to carry all our luggage. Both apartments were completely furnished with full kitchens and a clothes washer. The air conditioner came in handy too. It is easy walking distance to most attractions with good restaurants nearby. The staff were friendly and will even call a taxi if... More

My family of six recently stayed at the Novella House. From the minute we arrived the staff was very accomodating. Better yet, our room on the second floor was very spacious and clean. I personally enjoyed the character and charm of Novella House. The location was also spot on, allowing us to move about Florence easily getting to restaurants and... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
