The hotel occupies the 4th floor of a building overlooking the Arno River. Reached by caged elevator, the hotel is sleek, modern, clean and Antonio, who does everything, very helpful. We had a very nice room with private shower. The bathroom was huge with a bidet, shower, sink and toilet. The breakfast was very good. The only drawback was the... More

The hotel is on the 4th floor of a nice building facing the river. It's a short walk to the train station. Dated but functional. An update to bathroom and room décor would make a huge difference. It's a walk to the Duomo but we had no problem with that. The host is very pleasant and most helpful. He made... More

The hotel is exactly what you pay for. It gives you a bed, a bathroom and air con which was all i needed. It does need a lick of paint due to some people deciding to attack the mosquitos with their dirty shoes but other than that its super clean. The manager of the hotel was lovely, very accommodating and... More

A simple but clean hotel with a very hard working and pleasant owner. At first he seemed like a quiet man, which he is, but very helpful! The rooms aren't very small, have air conditioning, get cleaned and receive fresh towels everyday. The bathroom contains a shower which is small and the temperature of the water is not easy to... I stayed here three nights with my wife, and I have good and bad things to say. Location is excellent, short walk to centre and to all tourist attractions, very calm area next to the river. The hotel is on the highest floor of the building, and view from the room is awesome! The owner is very friendly and helpful,... More

This hotel was simple but very nice! I would definitely stay there again! The staff was very friendly and didn't hesitate to help us when we needed it! The breakfast was simple but it filled us up! The wifi worked great most of the time but did cut out one of the nights we stayed there. Overall great stay for... More

Had a lovely stay here. The rooms are simple, but are really nice for the price range. The views and location make this hotel a real bargain. We could look out out window and see the ponte vecchio. The staff was very friendly and gave great advice.

The hotel is quite simple and well located. It is at the edge of the historical zone, right beside the river, around 15-20 minutes walking from Galleria degli Uffizi and Ponte Vechio. Our window looked out onto the river and probably all the rooms had the same view (see picture). The attendant is a very solicitous man, always willing to... More

I would not hesitate recommending this hotel to anyone wanting to spend a couple of days in Florence and be close to all the sights without shelling out the big bucks. It really is just a place to sleep and store your stuff whilst you roam about town exploring all the museums and sit in a trattoria or osteria enjoying... More

Location is great but wifi signal did not reach our room. We had to sit outside in the hall to get a signal (and it ran VERY slow). The guy at the desk said he had never heard of this issue (doubt it). Not the kind of service we expected for the price. Even hostels we've stayed at for a... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
