I had not been in Firenze (Florence) in nearly 40 years when my bride and I drove into the city from Siena. I thought I knew -- remembered -- exactly how to get to an area with decent, above-budget-level hotels. I didn't: the city had changed. (Duh.) We wandered around in and on the outskirts of Firenze for over an... more

We stayed at the Hotel le Due Fontane over a year ago and we felt it had gone down hill since then, which is a shame because this hotel is in a great location. It has now dropped to a 2 star hotel, the rooms are very basic and the new owner does not seem to care if you have... more

The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. They also have a shuttle service to pick us to and from the train station. It was very helpful to us since we were traveling with a toddler. The room itself was pretty small. But I guess it's standard in Europe. It also had mosquitoes. We kept our windows closed so that... more

The hotel is facing a big beautiful square. In a very old building. (Once owned by the Medicis.) You are very near to many of the historic sights. Our room was surprisingly big and had an elegant new bathroom. Breakfast good, for being in Italy. The staff was of different moods. Some friendly, and some not so happy. Stay away... more

The location is very good, just a short stroll away from everything. The staff were pleasant. Mini bar well stocked with drinks. However, the rooms were incredibly dusty - the floor was covered with dust and at no time was it swept in the four nights we were there. The room needed a good deep clean too. Do not go... more

I stayed for two nights but hardly slept due to the continuous noise of homeless drunks directly opposite my room. When reported to reception I was informed the problem had persisted for the last six years. It was reported to the police regularly but nothing can be done to stop the problem. Please do yourselves a favour and stay away... more

I stayed here with some American clients and we saw no evidence of the problems mentioned by previous reviewers. The hotel staff were pleasant and helpful and breakfasts and dinners were good with generous portions. more

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in Sept 2005. The location was very convenient, a short walk to the Duomo and the Gallery Academia. The problems start at night with many homeless people sleeping out in the square, singing and shouting well into the night. Whilst we never felt threatened, it was most unpleasant. The hotel itself was... more

If the bed bugs don't make you sick, the toxic fumes on the top floor will. Stay away from this hotel. Richard New York more

We stayed here for 3 nights in October 2004 as part of a tour package. While not the worst 3-star place I have stayed, it definitely has it's problems. a) Being in the historical part of Florence, it's definitely noisy with street traffic until 10pm. b) We had mosquitoes in the room if you opened the windows c) The bathrooms... more
