We chose to stay in Merlini because of the reviews here. However, our experience was quite different from the other reviewers'. Each time we entered the hotel, on the 3rd floor of an old building, smell of cigarette smoke emanating from the office greeted us. Luckily the smell wasn't noticeable in the room which was at the end of a... more

ok so imagine a room overlooking the Duomo, and run by a lovely family with their cooking each evening the smell that greets you as you enter the vestibule...imagine your hosts something like extended family...so that you feel this stony Renaissance city the sweet comfort of friendship.. I love the rooms, and over the years have stayed in most of... more

We really loved this hotel. This is the best hotel we stayed in our trip to Italy. Great for the price! The location is awesome. It's close to the train station but also all the sights in Florence. So we didn't have to walk far with our luggage to this bed and breakfast. Also, it was convenient for our day... more

We had the best stay at Merlini the room was large the bathroom was clean and very big!!!! Family owned and operated the price was very reasonable for the comfortable stay. It was the perfect location right by the train station and walking distance to all sights. We were well taken care of. Even on a rainy day as we... more

An older, family operated low cost hotel near main train station and the Cathedral. Small, clean, quiet and secure. Two rooms have new marble bathrooms. The only disadvantage for people with heavy baggage is that it is up three flights of a grand stone stairs. Several other hotels in same building offer hostel style and more expensive accommodation. We paid... more

My boyfriend and I spent a week at the Hotel Merlini in May 2009 and were VERY pleased with our stay there. We are both 30-something artists from New York City, and for our needs and budget, the Merlini was the perfect place for our romantic getaway! Although neither of us are very interested in luxurious and/or high tech bells... more

Hotel Merlini is one of the most charming and inexpensive places to stay in Florence. The rooms are very comfortable and extremely clean. The location is central to everything. The owners are very friendly and helpful. When we arrived we questioned Rosario about how to get tickets to the Ufizzi and he voluntarily called and got reservations for us, which... more

This hotel is home-owned and very small. The owners are terrific! Good location to the train station and within walking distance of everything in Florence. Nothing fancy here, but a great value! more

I stayed at the Albergo Merlini for two nights this past week with my mother. The location is tremendously convenient -- five minutes from the train station and a very short walk to the Mercato, the Duomo, Santa Maria Novella, the Medici Chapel, San Lorenzo and more. Our room was charming, with a small terrace, and spotlessly clean. The breakfast... more

We stayed for a full week. A room with a private bath was just 60 euros a night. Probably the only drawback is that you have to walk up three floors but it is nothing when you take into account its other features: a very mice location, a historical 16th century buildinhg, very safe (the door is locked at night... more
