Very nice and friendly staff with home feel restaurant and bar area. Good air conditioner is very helpful in summer time. Local is good as well, close to train station and walking distance to many tourist spots. Will refer to my friends who come to Florence next time.

My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon. We were able to walk to the hotel from the train station. The staff was very friendly. They gave us a map and recommended sights to see, places to eat, etc. The size of our room was huge compared to our hotels in Venice and Rome. The buffet every morning wasn't... More

Great hotel! Close to the train station (a few blocks), easy to find. It was on a quiet street meant almost exclusively for pedestrians. Quiet at night. It felt like a more authentic Italian experience as opposed to staying in a modern hotel. The staff was so wonderful and welcoming, very impressed with everyone we met. The breakfast area was... My fiancee and i had a very nice stay at Hotel Mario's. We didn't stay in the room for long but felt at home when we did. The staff was very accommodating and extremely pleasant. I will be referring this hotel to my family and friends for sure.

This hotel was such a comfortable retreat. It's a great location in a quiet section of a busy street. Within walking distance of mostajor sites and shopping. Our room, #6, was very clean..bathroom was a bit small but this is to be expected of a European hotel. The staff were so warm and friendly. Mariana was a sweet front desk... More

Great hotel and staff! Close to train so you don't have to carry your luggage far from the station. Breakfast was good as well. They gave us a great recommendation for dinner down the street- best meal we had in Florence! Room was clean and roomy. TV didn't work and bathroom was down the hall, but very minor problems compared... More

I stayed five nights at the hotel, leaving today. It is a wonderful, homey hotel and it feels as if you stay in a tuscanian house. My stay was very pleasant: breakfast and the cappucino were delicous, the staff was very helpful with suggestions and information and the hotel is very clean and pleasant. The location is superb too. Very... More

Mario's is very near Santa Maria Novella train and bus stations so it's very convenient to get transport to places outside Florence. It is also a short walk from Florence's attractions like the Duomo, restaurants, cafés and shopping areas. Our room was clean and comfortable. Staff members were very efficient and helpful. The young lady who was there on the... More

We spent a very enjoyable 3 nights at this small and comfortable hotel which is on the first floor of a residential building. It is conveniently located close to the main railway station and a short walk from the Duomo but is surprisingly peaceful. The bedroom was cool, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was Italian style bread and pastries with... More

Great hotel and friendly staff! I spent there one night to do a (fortunate) error in booking. There was a cancellation at Mario's and to my surprise, it was even better than what I had booked initially. This small hotel enjoys a 16-17th century decor (look at the ceiling!) and very nice and cosy furniture (the beds are comfortable). The... More

Staying in San Lorenzo

Neighborhood Profile
San Lorenzo
San Lorenzo’s lively merchants shout out from behind stalls with an array of products in one of the most traditional neighborhoods in Florence. Different ethnic groups join together in the large outdoor market of San Lorenzo and in the Central Market, a vast multi-floored building. Visitors are bound to fall in love with this area and in particular, with its variety of food, especially those focusing on Florentine dishes as well as international selections. Nobody leaves San Lorenzo without a shopping bag in hand or with an empty stomach.
