If you want a sweet, clean, inexpensive, and unique place to stay in Florence, you won't find a better one. The family who owns this intimate hotel is wonderful. The rooms are named after famous women, which is a big plus in my book. We stayed for 10 days and felt very much at home and well cared for. The... More

We spent a wonderful two nights at Hotel Albion in mid-October, 2015. This is a family-owned and run three-star hotel, with the family very active in the management -- father. mother, son and daughter. The family has managed the hotel for five generations, and it shows in the care and attention they pay to their guests. Even when we had... More

Very lovely little hotel in an 1800s building. Location was great, everything was within walking distance. Major car rental agencies as well as a parking garage were also nearby (adjacent street) and returning a rental was really convenient. The decor throughout and the warmth of the hotel owners (especially Sara) really made it seem like we were staying with friends... More

Bravo, to the Albion!!! From the moment I checked in to the moment I left I felt like part of the family. It felt like you were walking into someones family room. Location was wonderful, especially close to the train station. My room, was HUGE for a single with a 2 person shower. (room 29). Sara and Massimo were superb... More

This is a gem of a hotel run by a gorgeous family, the location is great, the rooms are clean and have everything you would want in a hotel. The jewels in the crown are massimo and Sara who do everything to make your stay in florence an easy and memorable experience. I look forward to returning very soon.

When entering the hotel at first you have a feeling as if time stood still in the reception area and one expects John Cleese to pop up behind the desk. Instead it is either Massimo or his wife who go out of their way to make you feel welcome in their lovely hotel in the centre of Florence. A recommendation... More

My sister and I stayed at Hotel Albion on the recommendation of friends, and we had a wonderful time. From the first day in our week in Florence, we felt welcome and very comfortable. Sara, Massimo, Nico, Gimmi -- everyone there was gracious and good-humored and kind. We stayed on the fourth floor, in a big room with its own... More

I was traveling with my parents and husband and they put us in a very comfortable 2 bedroom suite with a kitchen and LR. Private parking. 1st drinks at the hotel were on them. Breakfast included. But the best part was that this family-run establishment was one of the friendliest I ever encountered, staff included. Awesome people! I would recommend... More

Stayed for two nights at the Hotel Albion in July. Great location, walking distance from all the major sights. Exceptional personal service from the staff with great recommendations for 'off the beaten track' delights. Family room was fantastic with a separate room for the children. This hotel truly added to a wonderful experience of Florence.

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
