Stayed for two nights at the Hotel Albion in July. Great location, walking distance from all the major sights. Exceptional personal service from the staff with great recommendations for 'off the beaten track' delights. Family room was fantastic with a separate room for the children. This hotel truly added to a wonderful experience of Florence.

Stayed one week in early July. As other reviewers have said, the owners Sarah and Massimo are friendly and very helpful. Ideally located near everything, spacious rooms and charm to boot. Nothing fancy but great if you plan on spending time outdoors

Location: The hotel is an easy five minutes' walk from the main train station, and just two blocks from the river, where we often walked along to enjoy the sunset and the night view. Great eateries and furniture shops are nearby. With around 15 minutes' walk we could get to the historical centre (or the more touristry area). Room: We... More

I stayed at The Albion with my wife and two other couples in July of 2013. We all loved it. The hotel had a funky layout and it felt like we were ion an old Italian castle. The service was great the rooms were large and clean. The location was convent to Ponte Vecchio and that area. One night we... More

We very much enjoyed our stay here. It was recommended to us by friends and we would recommend it to anyone. Sara is a wonderful person and does everything she can to make her guests' stay at the hotel wonderful.

A wonderful experience…. Where do I even start? The Albion hotel is full of paintings and you could spend a day just looking at them. The building is very old but in a very good shape. Our spacious room had huge ceilings and was painted very nicely. The best part was to get to our room on level 2; you... More

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at the Albion and find it great value for money. The staff are excellent and Sara and Massimo are fantastic hosts. The hotel is close to the rail station and all other attractions in Florence. I will stay again with them next time in Florence. Thanks Sara and Massimo. Kind regards Andrew... More

We had a 5 night stay at this charming Florence Hotel. It is family owned and run (apparently being in the family for many years). The hotel has real character and old world charm, but is also spacious and immaculately clean. Sara and her father Massimo were wonderfully welcoming and helpful, especially with sightseeing, public transport and dining tips. Arranging... More

Returned to the Albion Hotel this June. This family run hotel is centrally located, just two blocks from the river and a 15 minute walk from the center of Florence. Massimo, the owner, went above and beyond helping us deal with a car problem that required a tow and mechanic's work! Thank you, Massimo!

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
