This is a small hotel. About 5-10 minutes from the train station by cab. Check in was a breeze. You will be greeted by a huge door and a flight of stairs. They do have an elevater that can only fit 1 person with 2 luggages so that's how we brought up our big bags, via the lift. Check in... More

Lovely hotel with very friendly staff but it doesn't stand out when looking for it for the first time. Via Cavour is an important street leading to the Duomo but Hotel Giglio is not on the ground floor and the sign only says "Hotel". There is a small elevator which is handy for luggage but I usually took the stairs.... More

This was a good hotel which offers value for money. It is in a great location about 10 minutes walk from the Cathedral & Uffizi Gallery. The staff on reception were welcoming & very helpful. The rooms were clean & comfortable - we would certainly stay at Hotel Giglio again.

Decent room. Nice staff and a great breakfast. Location worked for us as our daughter was nearby. Room was clean and large (got the quad). Shower was ok but the bathroom was quite large. Bed was comfy.

Five of us stayed 2 nights in October.....2 rooms. We all thoroughly enjoyed the charm and comfort of the rooms...ceilings must be 12 feet tall and wonderful windows with shutters. Bathrooms were nice and very clean. Location was convenient to the museums and cathedral. Breakfast was very nice and well stocked. Marco was a wonderful resource! We were sad to... More

The entrance of the hotel is a little ordinary and blends with the rest of the buildings. The elevator is old, small, and creepy so we took the stairs. The staff was nice and very helpful. The room was simple, bed was old but ok. They turn off the air when you aren't in the room so we always came... More

Stayed for one night. We had a large room that over looked the cobbled street below. Bathroom was very clean. The hotel is within walking distance to the train station, restaurants, and Duomo. The staff are very friendly and go the extra mile to ensure your comfort.

Stayed for 2 nights and their hotel is in the city center but still requires a taxi if u are lugging bags from Firenze SMN. The fare is about €7 to €10 but Each bag is an extra €1 so take note. Hotel is about 1.4km from Ponte Vecchio but u hardly notice as there are so many things to... More

This hotel is on the first floor of an older building on Carvour Street that eventually leads to the Duomo after a 15-minute walk. The staff is welcoming; I arrived at 1 AM and was met with a hard candy and a cup of hot water with lemon and honey to try to control my cough. Breakfast included hard boiled... More

First and foremost - the hotel staff is extremely nice and helpful. Marco was particularly helpful and went out of his way to help us out. Rooms are big and spacious and it is classic designed. It had AC in the room. The age definitely reflects in the room. However, the bathroom is very small. There was no tea /... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
