First , let me comment on the staff, who are all wonderful. The location is good. Unfortunately, this hotel is not a place to find comfort. The mattresses and pillows were so worn out and uncomfortable. We had two different rooms and both were the same. A/C is minimal, and needs larger units to cool the rooms. We had several... More

Stayed here for 4 nights and used it as a base. Our room was large on the courtyard side so no traffic noise. Bathroom was also large. The AC was a little weak and the day it was over 100 degrees we came back to housekeeping having turned it off. (Tip - hide the remote to the AC so that... More

I say beautiful as I wouldn't call it pretty. It's not that kind of place. Warm, friendly, considerate, what you would expect from a family business. Beautiful people, helpful and kind. Beautiful rooms, retro aesthetic, a bit small but with nice classic furniture, good size bathroom. Stayed there for 2 nights and really enjoyed it.

We have been in fancy hotels for the past two weeks and this one just hit us with a homely vibe. Very simple hotel with nice spacious bathroom. Soon as we walked in we felt at home. This is not suited for an A class or wanna be A class people. For a more matured people who appreciate the small... More

This is an older hotel. I went with my cousin and sisters. I wouldn't recommend for a younger crowd because coming in later was kinda awkward and frowned upon. Customer service was Mediocre, felt more like a business than a hospitality. Other than that, not a bad location, short walk to town.

We stayed in two rooms for one night as a family group. Rooms were spacious and comfortable, breakfast was nice, and everything about the hotel felt perfect for the price. Amazing service helping us up with our bags from the car and just ensuring we had all the info we needed to make the most of our quick weekend transit... More

This is a conveniently located no-frills family hotel in Florence. We only stayed one night for our 24 hours in Florence, and the hotel more than met our needs. It is about a five minute walk to see David at the Academia, a 15 minute walk to the Duomo, and a 25 minute walk to the Ufizzi. We visited in... More

Hotel Giglio is a 3 Star hotel with 5 Star attitude! The owners Marco and Manuela are fantastic. They are accommodating and helpful. They really know how to provide top hotel service. Also, Luca at the front desk provided so much information and recommendations that were great. If you are going to Florence this hotel should be your hotel, the... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Giglio. The location was perfect and the graciousness of the owners made the experience that much more enjoyable. We were greeted initially by Roberto, who welcomed us when we arrived late at night. The next morning we enjoyed a lovely breakfast and conversation with Manuela and Marco. They were incredibly kind and helpful... More

Very knowledgable and accomodating staff whether it be directions, information, calling a cab or helping with our luggage. Walking distance to Doumo and most main attractions. Clean, nice continental breakfast. Was very happy with my this and would absolutely return!

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
