Walking distance to Santa Maria Novella Square (most famous piazza in Florence) and the Ponte Vecchio, the Medieval stone bridge with art galleries. The hotel is a five minute walk from the train station. The room was spacious and our window faced the street where we had a wonderful view of the domes of the nearby cathedrals. Could have strolled... More

The location was super close to the train station - which was great given that we arrived late at night. It's not a far walk from anything which is nice and the staff is very helpful at making sure you know where you're going. The pull out couch in our room was broken so badly that they gave us a... For convenience we look for hotels near the railway stations which distinguish themselves from others, high in quality, reasonable in price. The people at Hotel Porta Faenza obviously work hard to make theirs special in the field, in an understated way. The service was excellent from reception to checkout; they even asked if we needed to hold our luggage before... More

We went to Florence for our honeymoon. I made two separate reservations for Hotel Porta Faenza in Florence, Italy. Using one website I booked the night of April 3rd 2015 and using another I booked the nights from April 4th checking out on April 7th. I arrived at Hotel Porta Faenza on the night of Friday April 3rd. The front... More

This hotel was charming and conveniently located. Our room, 101, had a street view which was nice. Needing the key card to turn on the lights was a little weird, but fine. Breakfast room was nice, though we weren’t terribly impressed with breakfast. Food was okay. Coffee was pretty terrible. Would consider staying here again.

This was a great hotel that was located close to all attractions, the train station, and restaurants. Very comfortable rooms, good breakfast, and friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely stay here again for our next visit.

We had looked at this hotel several times but always chosen hotels closer to the centre. On reflection that may have been a mistake as this one although a little further out is closer to the rail network and public transport. And in any case, it is only a short walk to the historic centre of this lovely city. On... More

Relying on Trip Advisor's reviews has proven itself over and over but this time, my experience even surpassed what I had expected. A great, central location, just blocks from the Stazione. A lovely establishment with many wonderful antiques embellishing each and every floor, accessible by elevator or stairs. A generous, immaculate, well-appointed room with a great mattress, a mini-bar, wi-fi... More

We were very happy with our stay at this hotel, which is perfectly located for the visitor to Florence. Within walking distance of Santa Maria Novella Station, so getting the express bus from the city's airport was a better bet than joining the long queue for taxis. This also made it easy to take day trips by train to Siena... More

We stayed here for 2 nights during a long weekend trip to Florence. It is a 5 minute walk from the train station, and very easy to find. Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly reception staff, and shown to our room on the third floor. The room was incredibly spacious and very grand. Both my partner and I were... More

Staying in San Lorenzo

Neighborhood Profile
San Lorenzo
San Lorenzo’s lively merchants shout out from behind stalls with an array of products in one of the most traditional neighborhoods in Florence. Different ethnic groups join together in the large outdoor market of San Lorenzo and in the Central Market, a vast multi-floored building. Visitors are bound to fall in love with this area and in particular, with its variety of food, especially those focusing on Florentine dishes as well as international selections. Nobody leaves San Lorenzo without a shopping bag in hand or with an empty stomach.
