Our stay at THL was so good we ended up booking four additional days. The front desk folk were exceptional and accomodating. I've never had a maid service that was so completely attentive to detail. Internet was purportedly only in public areas but even though our room wasn't exactly close to the reception area we received a good wifi connection. We also found a real gem for meals in the Deluxe Cafe they treated us like family and the prices beat everwhere else to eat throughout Florence.( go left out the THL front door and ten doors down) . more

My husband and I went to Florence during a two week European adventure in July 2007. We were booked to stay in the Tourist House Liberty. However, the owner or manager (who was very sketchy) switched us to an apartment several blocks away. It was up 6 flights of stairs and had only one window about a foot in width and 2-3 feet in height. Wow, was it hot! It had a private bathroom, but the bedroom was in a loft, making it even stuffier. We ate dinner at i'daviddino, which had very good gnocchi. The Duomo was spectacular, the Uffizi and and the Accademia were amazing (DO NOT miss these!), and the river was beautiful. However, the street always smelled like mold and finding vegetarian food was incredibly difficult. Florence = amazing art, unimpressive accommodations, bad vegetarian food. more
