This hotel is well positioned, starting from the Duomo you just have to go up the street Cavour to the it´s end. Along the street you will find shops, convenience stores, restaurants and also several bus stops. The staff of the hotel are very nice and are very helful. The breakfeast does not present much variety, but it's enough. Clean... More

We stayed for one night in November 2014.I don't suggest this place to anyone. The pictures of the room are a lot different from the reality. The hotel needs renovation Only the staff was good friendly and helpful.

The female receptionist was very friendly and helpful and feel she could do better and find another job elsewhere. Location is bad and is on the 2nd floor of a building in which there is a very awkwardly odd lift. Could really do with some decorating and brothel comes to mind. Breakfast was terrible and not worth the money; no... More

The hotel is 15 minutes away from the Duomo. If you have a car, the public parking is quite close. The hotel is in the 2nd floor so the main entrance doesn't look too good, but the hotel is nice. The room is quite big and comfortable. The guy in the front desk gave us a lot of info. One... More

We had a fantastic 3 night stay in this hotel whilst interailing in Italy. Although it is slightly further out from the main sights, it is not too long a walk from the centre. The staff of the hotel are very knowledgeable and were able to help us out with any questions we had. The room was slightly noisy at... More

The first room is nice and second rooms are closer to Main Street and it has lot of noise and beds are spring cots and they make noise when u move in sleep Be... More

This was one of the few rare occasions when the TripAdvisor ratings didn't match to my expectations. We had taken a room with a double bed and attached bathroom. We were so disappointed during our stay that we wont go back ever, even if offered a free package. Good: Location is not very far from Duomo. Bad: The entrance to... More

We always joked this was our orphanage hotel as we had five single beds lined up in a row. Be careful not to go down the one way street outside the hotel because the signs in Italian say you will be photo-radar-ed every time you do, and you will be. The hotel was centrally located, within walking distance to the... More

The room was very satisfying (TV, air-conditioning, en-suite) and clean and the staff was very helpful and accomodating!! Its location was quite convenient, less than 10 minutes on foot from the Duomo, and the price was really good!

We arrived late at night and it took us awhile to figure out the directions from the train station to the hotel, in the dark. However, people were very helpful and we made it to the hotel in about 20 minutes by foot (it took less than 15 minutes on the way back). The room was very basic and old.The... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
