We had a fantastic 3 night stay in this hotel whilst interailing in Italy. Although it is slightly further out from the main sights, it is not too long a walk from the centre. The staff of the hotel are very knowledgeable and were able to help us out with any questions we had. The room was slightly noisy at... More

It was pleasant experience. We stayed there two different rooms for different nights, staff is helpful in arranging room in last minute and knowledgable about area. The first room is nice and second rooms are closer to Main Street and it has lot of noise and beds are spring cots and they make noise when u move in sleep Be... More

This was one of the few rare occasions when the TripAdvisor ratings didn't match to my expectations. We had taken a room with a double bed and attached bathroom. We were so disappointed during our stay that we wont go back ever, even if offered a free package. Good: Location is not very far from Duomo. Bad: The entrance to... More

We always joked this was our orphanage hotel as we had five single beds lined up in a row. Be careful not to go down the one way street outside the hotel because the signs in Italian say you will be photo-radar-ed every time you do, and you will be. The hotel was centrally located, within walking distance to the... More

The room was very satisfying (TV, air-conditioning, en-suite) and clean and the staff was very helpful and accomodating!! Its location was quite convenient, less than 10 minutes on foot from the Duomo, and the price was really good!

We arrived late at night and it took us awhile to figure out the directions from the train station to the hotel, in the dark. However, people were very helpful and we made it to the hotel in about 20 minutes by foot (it took less than 15 minutes on the way back). The room was very basic and old.The... More

The location is a little bit far from the touristic area but 1km walking is not really a disadvantage. The hotel is clean, staff members are friendly and helpful. The only bad thing was the Internet, the connection was really bad when I stayed there

The hotel was located a decent walk from the main Duomo. We got a room for two which had a nice bed. The hotel had Wifi which worked most of the time but occasionally was spotty. Service was good. We were given a key to our own bathroom which was complete with the necessary facilities. The place felt like it... More

This hotel is located in a great place for sightseeing. The moment we arrived the receptionist Linda provided a map of Florence and marked important places we should visit and gave us a tour of the hotel before showing us our room. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Our room had a private bathroom flat tv and wifi and... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
