This hotel has a youth Hostel feel! good if your 20 but not if your 40...all rooms seemed dated, showers were poor standard, Real shame as the exterior has a shabby chic feel. Staff were ok but got upset when we said there best room was not good enough. we were here for a romantic break. When your +45yrs old... More

We stayed at this residence hotel for a month with a tour group. The accommodation was very nice, comfortable and airy. The service was excellent; be sure to ask for Luca, the barman, who is one of the nicest fellows. The desk staff are very attentive and pleasant. The breakfast service was superb. Although it's a goodly distance from the... More

I booked the hotel through Priceline, and it marks as a Four Star Hotel in their secret hotel deal. I don't think this is a four star hotel. It could be between 2-3 star only. The staffs at reception were very helpful but the ones at breakfast room were quite rude. It is a bit far away from central. It... More

My partner and I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. Overall we thought it was typically Italian in appearance, decor and level of luxury. Strengths; large room, decent bed, clean enough, good shower fairly good location - not in the super busy centre but close enough to walk easily, friendly raising cat! Weaknesses; wifi variable, very dated decor, bar... More

I stayed here last week with my family, we had 2 rooms as we have teenage sons. The rooms were basic but spacious and comfortable. It was really hot outside (38 degrees) and the air conditioning worked well so it was a relief to have a cool room to come back to. Our rooms overlooked a central courtyard and were... More

We arrived early and the front desk team was incredibly gracious and allowed us to check in early. Each person we interacted with at the front desk was helpful and quickly met our needs - they are truly a 4 Star hotel team. The staff handling the breakfast area was less accommodating and interaction with them soured me on this... More

Not the best location in Florence. About a 15 minute walk to the leather market. Breakfast was okay, but why they insist on serving bacon that is barely cooked, I cannot fathom. This hotel is older and it shows. But the thing they did that made me unhappy enough to post a negative review was their attitude toward guests. I... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
