We stayed here for a week while in Florence and found it both comfortable, affordable and convenient. It was a 10 minute walk to the Duomo and the breakfast was typical fare. We stayed in an older room which was quite spacious (other than the bathroom) and comfortable. There were several hotels on the street to grab a quick dinner... More

Dear Guest, Thanks for the great review. I am happy you could enjoy the balcony even in the Winter season, and by the way this winter in Florence is not that cold at all! We hope to see you back someday, thanks for sharing your impressions. Francesco More

This hotel is a 10 minute walk from the train station and is walking distance to all the major attractions in Florence. The signage is difficult to spot so rely on the street address to find it. The hotel is nicely appointed and well maintained with large rooms , both bed area and washrooms. The beds are king size with... More

Dear Larson, It's really a great review, thanks for your mentions to the room, the breakfast and the staff. We have a large light sign outisde the buildings saying H O T E L. For the shower curtain I think you were in a bath tub room. In Europe is common to have eiter the shower or the bath tub,... More

I was with my ski club. The were 47 of us in the group. I was in the old part of the hotel. There were actually divots in the twin bed. I was on the street side. Room 31. One morning the garbage trucks woke us up. The room had an antique wardrobe, totally inadequate for closet space. The drawer... More

Dear guest, Thanks for your review. Coming to Florence during the low season (Winter) is a great occasion to visit the museums and the attractions without the crowd, but it can mean you have to give up on something. For instance our bar is only open from April to October, and the same is for the breakfast in the terrace... More

I've traveled to Europe a dozen times and stayed in all the major European countries. This hotel had the 2 worst hotel rooms I've ever stayed in. Our first room was small and smelled like an outhouse. We asked to move and got a 2nd room that was even smaller but at least it didn't reek of sewer. The walls... More

Dear Guest, I am sorry to receive your complaint about your recent stay in a classic room. In your group of 40 rooms nobody else complained about the room assigned, either Classic or Deluxe room. I understand your room (#35) is not the best we have, but it is really the next that will go under renovation, together with room... More

If you are looking to make the most of the sights and museums of Florence this hotel is very well suited and it is still affordable. There is no bar and no restaurant in the hotel! The superior rooms (we had a junior suite) are spacious, modern and comfortable, indeed they are so modern that there is nowhere to put... More

Met up with several friends here at this hotel to begin our Wine & Hiking Tour in Tuscany. It was in a perfect location in Florence...easy to walk everywhere and anywhere in the central city. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance to choose from.

My family and I recently stayed here during our Christmas vacation and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Hotel Orto De Medici, a converted former home of Florentine nobility, is perfect in many ways. Its location is ideal - you can walk to most attractions, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the staff is great...always available for any needs. They include... More

My wife and I enjoyed our 4 night stay at this hotel. It is in a great location to walk to practically every must do attraction in Old Florence. Very clean old world décor rooms with nice modern bathrooms, and a fantastic breakfast setup. The front desk staff spoke English and was very helpful with directions and recommendations. We also... Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
